grab bag: The Grab Bag - Just Some Weird Twitter - 06/26/16 12:34 AM
My Twitter is broken. It refuses to follow anyone serious or with something constructive to share. So while you guys are using your time productively promoting your business, extending the reach of your brand or even perhaps making useful connections, I'm sitting on my sofa, reading tweets by a bunch of comedians, writers and other subversive types, laughing so hard that snot is running out of my nose.

Misery loves company, so here:

grab bag: The Grab Bag - Dogs and Weird Twitter - 05/07/16 11:21 PM
By the time any given Sunday rolls around, the thought of posting yet another market report makes me nauseous. It's time for some fun, and luckily, I happen to have the makings for another Grab Bag post, culled from the roadside detritus of the Information Superhighway during the past week.

Parkour Dog
I have always been in awe of Border Collies. The ones I know are smarter than most people and are amazing athletes, even if they have the eyes of White Walkers (GOT reference, for those of you living under a rock). Here's Neo, the Parkour Dog doing his stuff:

grab bag: The Grab Bag - Weird Twitter - 04/24/16 12:35 AM
Nothing pleases me more than writing a great blog post - one that is full of important ideas, entertaining news and engaging content - and sharing it with friends. Unfortunately, that's not happening today, as I am currently plagued by a lack of time, a dearth of creativity and regular old laziness. So we'll go the "bread and circuses" route - here's some Weird Twitter:

grab bag: The Grab Bag - Artisanal TP, Election Insurance and Weird Twitter - 04/03/16 12:13 AM
Welcome to the Grab Bag, an occasional post bringing you stuff from the internet* that I hope you missed so I can get credit for making you laugh. Today's Grab Bag features a couple of the best April Fool's commercials from last week, some weird Twitter, and a bonus cartoon.

April Fools:
Kudos to Quilted Northern and Esurance for spending some of their ad budgets on a couple of really funny commercials. (You gotta admit the TP one is a refreshing change from those disgusting bear commercials.)

grab bag: The Grab Bag - You Have A Choice - 03/19/16 11:24 PM
Welcome to the Grab Bag, an occasional compendium of Internet shiny bits that caught my attention as I cruised down the Information Superhighway in search of enlightenment - or at least a cheap laugh or two.

Today, we're going to start off with a choice - funny, or serious and important. Choose carefully from column A or Column B - once you have chosen, the column you didn't select will self-destruct in 5 seconds from overwhelming self-esteem issues. Just kidding - I'm fooling around with formatting techniques.

Bonus!
As a reward for making it this far down the page, here's a real estate … (40 comments)

grab bag: The Grab Bag - Wintergatan Marble Machine - 03/06/16 12:39 AM
The Internet exposes us to wonderful things we might have never seen otherwise, and this week's only Grab Bag pick is a great example of that. Martin Molin, a member of the Swedish folktronica band Wintergatan, built a musical instrument that uses a hand crank and 2000 marbles to power a kick drum, bass, vibraphone and other effects to make some very pretty music.

Enjoy!

Welcome to the Grab Bag. This week, there are actually a couple of things that might not be Complete Wastes of Time, one definite time waster, some Weird Twitter and a special treat for Muppet fans.

Welcome to the Grab Bag, a compendium of entertaining detritus encountered while searching for roadkill on the fringes of the information superhighway. For this first edition of 2016, we have some exceptional photography, a cool article on urban archeology, some Weird Twitter, and a completely unnecessary and tasteless visit to the zoo.

grab bag: The Grab Bag - More Weird Twitter - 10/25/15 12:19 AM
It has been a good month for weird twitter, that amusing little neighborhood where the comedians, comedy writers, malcontents and people who think they're funny hang out. Maybe you'll think they're funny too. Enjoy!

grab bag: The Grab Bag - Weird Twitter Again - 09/12/15 11:42 PM
If I were to post yet another market report today, that would be seven in a row, not only a sure sign of lack of imagination and creativity, but also an act of disrespect to you, my cherished followers - y'all ain't here for the market reports.

And while I definitely am suffering from a lack of imagination and creativity, perhaps I can disguise it, and give you something marginally better, by posting some of my recent favorites from the strange little corner of Twitter that I inhabit, along with the stand-up comedians, comedy writers and malcontents that I follow.

So, here it is, Sunday morning, a good time, it seems, to roll out the quotes. It looks like a cool, easy way to bag some points, so I'm gonna get in on some of that action. Of course, my quotes all come from Weird Twitter - mostly from @celebritywisdum - so they're probably better than yours.

I know most of you were hoping I'd post another market report today, and I hate to disappoint you, but I'm just not up to the task this morning. You'll just have to make do with the week's scrapings from the Internet. But don't worry - tomorrow, you'll be able to read all about 3 bedroom homes for sale in Fort Collins.

grab bag: The Grab Bag - This & That - 03/08/15 12:44 AM
I'd like to start off this edition with a strong recommendation. If you're a fan of Modern Family, you probably saw the "Connection Lost" episode a couple of weeks ago. If not, you should hunt it down - it's available on ABC' s web site or Hulu. Shot entirely on iPads and iPhones, the whole episode plays out on a laptop computer screen. It is one of the most creative and original things done on TV that I've ever seen - plus it's really funny.

Next up, a truly great ad. Those ads you hate on YouTube - the ones … (39 comments)
