I'm so disappointed in you. You were doing so well - every day was getting a bit nicer, the heavy coat got put away, and you even let me take the dogs swimming last weekend. I thought you had put all this behind you.
And then you go and do this.
I know it's hard, and maybe our expectations were unrealistic. Perhaps we asked too much too soon. Well, what's done is done. You've got until Monday to clean this mess up, and I need you to try and do better. Let's just forget this and move on, okay?

spring in colorado: A Sure Sign of Spring

This morning, I was delighted to see that our first ducks of the season had arrived. just in time to take advantage of yesterday's thaw, which left several areas of open water in the lake ice. The usual suspects were in the mix - canvasbacks, redheads, tufted ducks and buffleheads, with a few of our year-round resident geese in there as well.
The lake will be busy for the next several months, and at times, we'll have as many as 400-500 ducks. There are relatively few loud quackers - most of these guys make a pleasant whistling sound that … (16 comments)
