big canoe georgia: New Summer Menu at Big Canoe's Black Bear Pub - 08/06/16 03:55 AM
We are fortunate here in the gated community of Big Canoe, Georgia to have a restaurant right on the premises at the Clubhouse on Lake Sconti. This restaurant, the Black Bear Pub has delicious offerings that run the gamut from hamburgers and pizza to prime rib and pasta. Chef Tulio even grows his own herbs in raised beds behind the restaurant, which makes for even more delicious food.

Recently the Black Bear Pub announced new offerings as part of their summer menu. I recently was there for dinner and tried a few and I was not disappointed. Although the food on … (2 comments)

big canoe georgia: Big Canoe is Like Giant Campground with Beautiful Homes - 07/16/16 05:54 AM
The Campground Comparison

Recently, I have heard a few people coming to visit Big Canoe, Georgia for the first time and remarking that it reminds them of a big campground. A friend of mine felt the same way. Driving through the main entrance to Big Canoe you drive down a road with trees bordering each side of the road. Everything is green and shaded and you feel like you are getting away to vacation in a campground in the woods.

When my friend first first drove into Big Canoe and got out of the car, she could hear … (2 comments)

My community of Big Canoe, Georgia has three lakes. Two of these are rather small, but the third is one is large and one of the perks of Big Canoe living: Lake Petit.
Lake Petit covers 111 acres. It is stocked each year with rainbow trout, but there are also other types of fish that have been caught in Lake Petit and they include bluegill, bass brim and crappie. The lake itself is 100 feet deep in certain parts. There are benches around one side of Lake Petit for people to sit down and enjoy the scenery. Geese and ducks love … (4 comments)

big canoe georgia: Big Canoe, Georgia: The Vermont of the South - 06/10/16 02:15 PM

My Neighbor From Connecticut

My neighbor from Connecticut didn't want to move south to Georgia. She doesn't like the heat in summer so she and her husband had planned to move from Connecticut to Vermont a few years back. But after a one year search for homes without finding anything that fit them, and after enduring a terribly snowy Connecticut winter, her husband announced that he did not want to move to Vermont anymore as he was tired of the snow and didn't want to deal with all the hassle New England winters bring. My neighbor was terribly disappointed. She had been … (4 comments)

big canoe georgia: Big Canoe is Beautiful in Winter - 01/22/16 12:55 PM

Snow Day
It is snowing in Big Canoe. As I sit beside the window in my comfortable easy chair sipping a hot cup of tea, I enjoy gazing out the window periodically to take in the beautiful sight unfolding before my very eyes. It is January, and it is snowing in the mountains of North Georgia! From my cozy vantage point, I can enjoy the beautiful scene of snowflakes lazily drifting down past the window, and mounting up to maybe a full inch of the white stuff just covering the ground. Just enough to let us enjoy a bit of winter. Here it is … (7 comments)

big canoe georgia: Equestrian Neighborhood Christmas Party at Big Canoe - 12/12/15 02:10 PM

Perks of the Equestrian Neighborhood
Saturday night was the Equestrian Neighborhood Christmas party in Big Canoe, Georgia. I live in the Equestrain Neighborhood, and although there are other neighborhoods within the Big Canoe community the Equestrian neighborhood is special for a number of reasons. For one, it is approximately five minutes from the main gate of Big Canoe. That comes in handy when traveling outside of our community because it is such a quick trip to the main road. There is also a hiking trail inside our neighborhood, and it leads directly to the beautiful covered bridge also just inside the main … (6 comments)
