football: Life on the Kitsap Peninsula WA: "High School Football and other Life Lessons" - 10/26/09 09:37 PM
Few things in life are better than watching your own kids participate in athletic competition.
Especially when their team wins!....
Alright, I know, winning isn't everything,.... but it sure beats losing!....
For the past several years, our youngest son, Luke, has played football. He was involved in our local Silverdale Pee Wee Football league for 3 years. In his last year, he was the starting quareterback.
When he played for Central Kitsap Junior High here in Silverdale WA, he was fortunate to earn the starting quarterback postion for both his 8th and 9th grade years.
Now in his first year at … (8 comments)

football: "Central Kitsap Junior High Football" - Life on the Kitsap Peninsula WA - 10/31/07 06:50 PM
Well, today was the final game of the 2007 season for the Central Kitsap Junior High Cubs JV Football Team here in Silverdale WA. Our boys played Cedar Heights Junior High from Port Orchard. Both teams were tied for first place in the league going into today's game.
It was a classic nail-biting battle of fairly evenly matched teams. The high scoring game saw the lead change hands serveral times throughout the game. With only :40 seconds to go in the 4th quarter, the Cubs were down by 1 point. Two costly penalties brought our ball back to mid-field, leaving us with a … (7 comments)

Central Kitsap Jr. High JV Football Team demolishes a stunned Ridgetop Jr. High
Today was Game 3 of the season for the CKJH Cubs JV Football squad. Our opponent, Ridgetop Jr. High, has historically 'spanked' us quite handily over the past 5 or so years. So going into today's game, our boys were viewing this game as perhaps the most challenging of the season.
Present to view the rival showdown was none other than my two "Better-Halves" - my lovely wife, Janice, and my fellow SoundBiteBlog partner and ActiveRainer, Mark Flanders.
Ridgetop tried to set the tone early by attempting a short t-less kick-off. Their strategy paid-off … (4 comments)

football: Move over, Brett Favre! Here comes Luke Jacobson!!! - 10/01/07 11:00 AM
As many of you know, my youngest son, Luke, is starting quarterback for Central Kitsap Junior High JV Football team. The first game of the season, we won a nail-biter against Marcus Whitman Jr. High in Port Orchard. In Week Two, we played against Fairview Jr. High. Luke led the victory charge and scored his first touchdown pass of the season, connecting with favored receiver, Josh Sontag.

football: Central Kitsap Junior High Football: "Our First Game/Victory!" - 09/21/07 11:05 AM
Last Wednesday was the 1st game of the 2007 season for the Central Kitsap Junior High Cubs, both JV and Varsity squads.
My youngest son, Luke, is starting quarterback on the JV team. He has played the last two years on the local Silverdale Pee Wee Team and was excited to play for his school this year.
We played Marcus Whitman Junior High down in Port Orchard. We won the coin toss, and elected to receive. Our first touchdown came in the very first series, followed by another touchdown in the 1st quarter. Marcus Whitman wouldn't go down without a fight, and punched their … (10 comments)

football: Seahawks Lose, Seahawks Win! - 10/02/06 09:50 AM
Okay, so our beloved Seattle Seahawks lost yesterday in a 37-6 rout to the Chicago Bears. I guess if you're gonna lose, it might as well be to "Da Bears."
However, my greater redeeming consolation was that my youngest son, Luke, and his team, the Silverdale Pee Wee Seahawks, won their game Saturday against a tough Chico team with a pounding of 30-8. Luke was QB for the entire game and scored his second official touch-down pass.

If anyone knows any scouts for Ohio State, feel free to give them my number!

football: Moments that define Our Lives - 09/24/06 08:56 AM
Every once in a great while, we experience moments that serve to define our lives. We look back on these moments with great fondness as turning points that helped to guide our ambitions, passions, and future.
My youngest son, Luke, is the consummate sports fanatic. He can quote stats from Honus Wagner and Red Grange, to Derrek Lee and Peyton Manning. His dream is to attend Ohio State and play with the Buckeyes.

Yesterday, he played his second Pee Wee football game of the season. He is one of two quarterbacks on the team. In the second quarter, he delivered his … (4 comments)
