thornton team: Post Anonymously - 03/30/09 11:44 AM
Today I came across a wonderful, albeit unsettling post written by the ladies who run the 2 Witches Blog. Apparently volcanoes are not the only things that can shake the frozen ground of Alaska with consequences for Americans everywhere. The question is one's right to remain anonymous when writing a blog or commenting on a post.
You might be wondering why on earth one would want to remain anonymous when writing a post or commenting on a blog, especially if they have nothing to hide. This is the classic argument used to imply that those wanting to remain anonymous must want … (10 comments)

thornton team: Acknowledging The Good Information And Refuting Misinformation - 03/27/09 05:03 AM
Last week there was a blog (that was subsequently re-blogged) that I read which I felt both hit the nail on the head and also completely missed the mark to the point of misinformation. I will not out of simple respect name the person who wrote the post nor the person who re-blogged it. What I would like to do is give kudos for what I see as the high point of that post while also pointing out the bad information that it incorrectly relayed as fact.
First the good information regards the role of someone who not only designs websites/blogsites … (4 comments)

thornton team: Say It With Pictures - 03/19/09 04:12 AM
Today in Knoxville is a beautiful day. I woke with the crisp morning air, the windows have been open all week, and could actually hear the birds that have returned, and some that are migrating further north, chirping happily outside. I knew that today would be a good day and looked forward to it as I made my pot of coffee and let the dogs out. As per my usual routine, once my coffee was brewed, I turned on the computer to see what was happening on Active Rain.
On my homepage I noticed Contact from Danny Thornton: You Have … (9 comments)

thornton team: International Holocaust Remembrance Day - 01/27/09 07:25 AM
January 27 was recognized in 2005 by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The U.N. resolution rejects Holocaust denials while pledging to fight discrimination. Today in history marks the liberation by allied forces of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz-Berkenau. It is estimated that the Nazis murdered 6 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witness, and other innocent civilians from all over Europe.
Through the works of courageous survivors and victims of the Nazi death camps the world knows the ugly face of such atrocities. It is hard to forget the force of the Diary of Anne … (13 comments)

thornton team: Busy? You Betcha! - 01/26/09 06:44 AM
I wanted to write this post because I have been a scarce presence on Active Rain since late December. It is important to let the followers and occasional readers of my Active Rain blog know that I am not gone nor am I leaving Active Rain. I am happy to say that I have been extremely busy in both my personal and professional life; and yes this is a very good thing.
First the personal, I was in Hawaii for a little over a week for my youngest brother, David's wedding. If you have seen my last three Wordless Wednesday posts, … (19 comments)

thornton team: R & D Art: The Classes - 01/19/09 06:40 AM
I am happy to follow up Danny Thornton's post from earlier today entitled Introducing R & D Management with this post that announces some exciting offerings from R & D Art. R & D Art is our website design, blogsite design, and banner and icon design venture. As both Danny and I feel that independent websites, blogsites, and branding through banners and icons is very important, we launched this venture on November 25, 2008 to meet that need.
The advantages of having your own website and blogsite are numerous. The biggest advantage that I see is that you have ultimate control … (6 comments)

thornton team: Introducing R & D Management - 01/19/09 05:10 AM
I am happy to re-blog this post by Danny Thornton. In a time when many markets are having a difficult time on the road to ultimate recovery, developing tools to enhance your current income stream as well as searching out and creating other income streams is very important. Please feel free to click on any of the links in Danny's post to get a better understanding of what we are doing to help ourselves and others in this respect.
Before I get into this post, let me just clarify that this blog is not the announcement that this post … (2 comments)

thornton team: Reassess Your Web Presence - 01/15/09 08:22 AM
The transition from one year to the next seems to give a clean slate with hope for a year improved over the previous year. What will you do with that clean slate? Now that the New Year is here, how about developing a new strategy to help increase your production (or at least maintain it)?
I really believe that in the age of instant information at your fingertips that you must have a solid internet presence. I do understand that not everyone is familiar and comfortable with the internet and all of its nuances. With that said, it is important to … (4 comments)

thornton team: Marking Time - 01/12/09 05:21 AM
Time plays an important role in our lives. In the following post by Danny Thornton, the use of time, rather than the controlling of time is examined. I think that Danny presents a positive way to view time while setting a great tone for the new year.
Time is one of the most creative of human constructs. It has become such an integral part of our lives that it is easy to forget that it is actually a human construct. The integration of time in the very description of our state is unmistakable; past, present, and future are built … (5 comments)

thornton team: Fantasy Football, AR Style! - 12/24/08 01:03 AM
I am a huge sports fan. Football is probably my favorite, followed closely by baseball and tennis. I am also a fan of Active Rain! When you combine the two, that is a winning combination. I was happy to discover in early fall that Active Rain had a fantasy football league. It was a well ran league with just the right amount of smack talk! Though I didn't participate in the verbal sparring, I did get a kick out of reading some of the comments.

There were a total of 14 teams in this league and it seemed that most … (14 comments)

thornton team: Goodbye FHA Secure - 12/19/08 01:24 PM
As 2008 passes into memory FHA lenders will be saying goodbye to the FHA Secure program. In accordance with HUD Mortgagee Letter 2008-13, the FHA Secure program will expire on December 31, 2008. This program had offered expanded guidelines for borrowers currently delinquent on their mortgages due to ARM Rate Resets, as well as Rate/Term Refinance transactions from non-FHA mortgages to FHA Fixed Rate Mortgages. These provisions were only temporary.
As of December 31, 2008 HUD will no longer issue Case Numbers under the FHA Secure program. HUD is in the process of working on expanded guidelines to accommodate those borrowers … (12 comments)
