thornton team: Curses! Do You Believe? - 04/14/08 04:56 AM
While there are many rivalries (think Capulets and Montagues) and many curses (think Celie Johnson's curse on husband Albert in The Color Purple) this past weekend saw a new twist in legendary sports rivalry. Sports fans are probably well aware of both the rivalry and the curse...but not everyone is a sports fan so a little recap.

The story goes that in 1920 the Redsox sold Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees and brought upon themselves the "Curse of the Bambino" (insert spooky music here)! This curse is often cited as the reason for the 86 year drought that … (14 comments)

thornton team: 30 Days of Night - 04/11/08 05:46 AM
Last night I decided to watch 30 Days of Night! I had received it a couple of days ago from my Blockbuster account but because I have been so busy, I had yet to watch it. This movie is based on a graphic novel (a.k.a. comic book). The premise of the movie is that a town in northern Alaska, Barrow, is in total darkness for thirty days each year. In the beginning of the film, you see many of the townspeople who cannot handle this extended period of darkness leave temporarily. Those who remain are soon attacked by a blood thirsty … (2 comments)

thornton team: Georgia's Chateau Elan Winery & Resort - 04/04/08 03:13 PM
Just a short drive, 45 miles from downtown Atlanta, nestled in the north Georgia foothills, there is a fantastic place called Chateau Elan Winery & Resort. This beautiful resort sits on 3,500 acres of the most beautiful land in Georgia.
The Inn itself resembles the beautiful chateaus one sees in the French countryside. All the details were captured in the authentic architecture of the 275 room inn. There is also an 1,832 square foot presidential suite; though I never got to see it! The beautiful resort features eight restaurants to choose from with menu options ranging from All-American to French cuisine. … (11 comments)

Spring is here! The cherry blossoms have been in bloom for a couple of weeks with there brilliant white flowers that are even now beginning to be replaced with the green leaves! Soon the crepe myrtles will be putting on their dazzling display of pink, purple, fuschia, or white clusters of cascading flowers. The doors are all flung open, providing warm breezes during the day and cooler breezes at night! This is a marvelous time of year to live in Atlanta! thornton team: From Vanilla To Double Chocolate Raspberry Truffle...Or Hello Retirement! - 04/02/08 11:18 AM
Never had a beard before!
Last fall my father and stepmother decided that as part of their retired life they wanted to relocate...to Hawaii! Now this was not some decision made in haste. He had already been retired for almost two years and had spent the middle of January until the beginning of April in Hawaii for those previous two years. They had fallen in love with the islands and announced to my siblings and I after returning from their second trip that they were selling their house (and most of their belongings) and moving to Hawaii! By August of 2007, their … (15 comments)

thornton team: Meet The Robinsons - Movie Review! - 04/02/08 09:20 AM
I watched this movie over the weekend and enjoyed it. This is a movie for the whole family! Disney does a great job with the storyline, though I would have preferred if one of the children had taken more responsibility for his actions. There does seem to be a bit of shunning of personal responsibility by one of the characters in this film and I don't know if that is necessarily a good message to send. The film does not glorify this shirker of responsibility but makes him the villain so that is a bit of redemption. The movie is very … (8 comments)

thornton team: Recipes! Cooking Articles! Coupons! - 04/01/08 10:39 AM
With the way we work (constantly) in the real estate industry we don't always take the time to think about what we are putting into our bodies (i.e. fast food, take out, that mystery stuff in the Tupperware). I for one really enjoy cooking! I am a vegetarian, so most importantly I like to know there is no meat nor meat product in what I am eating and when I cook I am assured of this. I like using vegetables that I know are fresh and well washed (to remove any residual pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides). Combine these with the cost … (31 comments)

thornton team: Atlanta's 2008 Walk For Autism Saturday, April 12, 2008 - 03/30/08 07:00 AM

It seems that their are charity walks for everything nowadays. This is not to diminish the impact of thousands of people walking en masse through normally busy city streets. I remember as a child participating in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Walk A Thon. The excitement of getting pledges from neighbors and your parents' friends really helped to lend to my enthusiasm for the event. Today cities and towns across the US, and worldwide, experience these charity events with regularity. Atlanta on Saturday, April 12, 2008 will be the site of the Walk For Autism sponsored by Autism Speaks and … (10 comments)
