st charles: I'll Huff...and Puff...and Blow Your House Down! - 10/22/10 03:50 AM
This week, the Institute for Business and Home Safety introduced its 40 million dollar disaster simulation lab in  South Carolina.  The Institute which is funded by the insurance industry developed the simulator to test current home building materials and practices, during times of catastrophic weather.  The lab uses 105 very large fans and a 3/4 million gallon watertank to simulate tornadic and rain weather.

st charles: How Old is My House? A Greater Chicagoland Home Inspection Primer Pt 14, St Charles, IL - 07/12/10 02:13 PM

Jen, Travis and I returned from Santa Fe on Friday for a well deserved family vacation.  We absolutely love the natural beauty of New Mexico as well as the hospitality which, coming from Chicago, is truly a breath of fresh air.  While we rode horseback, perused the art, rafted the Rio Grande and did other quintessential Santa Fe touristy stuff. I fell in love with one style of home that I had not previously mentioned in this series... The Pueblo.

st charles: The Lingering House Guest - 04/05/10 01:20 AM
What could it be?  Many of you cannot stand this fella, even though all of us consider him a "fun guy".  His is with us always, but usually invites his friends over during the fall months.  He stops by, and even when the party is over, he is really hard to get rid of.
Care to guess?
Happy Monday.

Moving to St Charles, IL- Restaurants
Moving from Chicago to St Charles was a leap of faith…at least from a culinary standpoint. My wife and I (and now our son) are foodies. We love food. We love ALL food. Those who have lived in or visited a world class culinary city such as Chicago would understand. Personally, I would put St Charles, IL up against any one of the city restaurants, anytime. St Charles and its surrounding areas have INDEPENDENT restaurants which cater to every taste. I mention independent, as I am not speaking of Olive Garden or Applebee’s as … (2 comments)

A good school system is integral to the future success of your children, and increases property value.  St Charles School District (CUSD 303) is among the best in Illinois.  It is a high achieving, pre K-12 system.  Currently its 17 schools serve 13,800 students, from St Charles and portions of West Chicago, South Elgin, Wayne, Campton Hills, Wasco, Elburn and Unincorporated Kane County.
The History of CUSD 303
While formal school districts were formed in the late … (0 comments)
