Well enough about canoeing. Let's talk about fishing. Slam dunk, if you are a fly fisherman you are going to be interested in a spot close to one of the shoals. There are a lot of folks up here that literally just step into the river from their property and they are on their favorite spot. One does not have to have property on a shoal to be wading quickly.
