riverwoods community: What an Amazing Event Riverwoods Halloween - 11/07/10 01:39 PM
Once again the entire Village of Riverwoods worked to create the biggest and best Halloween Party ever.  This year almost 1000 people turned out for the festivities.  The fact that it was the Saturday before Halloween and the weather was beautiful really helped.  As the Mayor's wife, I was in charge of the party and people actually called and asked if they could help.  This was the nineth year the Village Hall has been covered with spiders, ghosts and witches.  Our sponsors bear almost the entire cost of the party and provide free hot dogs, pizza, cider, candy and smores which are prepared around … (0 comments)

riverwoods community: Our Client Appreciation Party Was Lots of Fun - 08/30/10 08:52 AM
In these difficult times it's more important than ever to say thank you to our past and present clients. Over 50 of our past and present clients attended. We told them that we are revising our business plan and are getting new clients largely by referral from past and present clients and asked them if they overheard friends or family talking about buying or selling real estate to tell them about us and ask if we might call them.  Then we asked them to give us a call with the person's name and number.
Everyone who attended said they had … (2 comments)

riverwoods community: The Beauty of Riverwoods, Illinois in the Spring - 05/31/10 02:34 AM
We just finished our Village Spring Clean-up celebration.  All our neighbors came to our home for coffee and bagels and then volunteered to clean up all the streets in our area including Deerfield Road.  I learned a lot about human nature during the clean-up.  All along Deerfield Road I picked up empty liquor bottles and beer cans.  I guess people are not only texting while they drive.  When I mentioned this to our police chief at the Village barbecue which followed the clean-up he was not at all surprised.  How sad!
This morning, Memorial Day, I was walking my dog and … (0 comments)

riverwoods community: One of The Most Beautiful Summers in Riverwoods is Coming To a Close - 08/23/09 01:38 PM
This summer has been cooler than usual, but it has been just beautiful in our lovely wooded community.  We are getting ready for our upcoming Halloween Party which usually hosts about 500 people at the Village Hall.
In a few weeks the Seniors under the auspices of the Riverwoods Preservation Coucil (RPC) will be measuring trees looking for trees over 2 feet in diameter.  A tree of that size is apporimately 90 years old. They will be looking for the property with the largest trees and will be mapping the location of trees.  This will provide a base from which we can … (0 comments)

riverwoods community: We Just Returned From the Los Vegas Desert To the Beauty of Riverwoods - 07/05/09 01:10 PM
Wow!  What a contrast.  From 108 degree heat, burning sun and desert to green grass, lovely trees and temperature in the high 60's.  It was really great to get home to the beauty of the woods.
We saw a new show in Vegas.  A ventriloquist named Terry Fator who was excellent. We also saw "O" which we had seen before.  It was just unbearably hot for anyone from the midwest.  Coming home to the baby deer, the beautiful trees and greenery was just wonderful.  What a beautiful place to live surrounded by the woods, our resident owl, and our resident deer with … (0 comments)

riverwoods community: Riverwoods Halloween Party -A Monster Bash Was Great - 11/01/08 06:08 AM
It's great to live in Riverwoods.  We just had another wonderful Village Halloween Party with horse-drawn hay rides, free hot dogs, free pizza, and hot apple cider.  There was a huge bonfire for roasting marshmallows and making somores.  This year we not only had a haunted hose and story lady, but we had Mobile Music Interactive Entertainment who provided scary background music and dancing for all.  Everyone had a wonderful time and even got bags of candy and popcorn to take home.  One resident told me that his daughter had come for the first time when she had just begun to … (0 comments)

riverwoods community: Autumn In Riverwoods Is The Most Beautiful Time of The Year - 10/17/08 03:51 AM
Our home is surrounded by acres of fabulous beauty.  Red, yellow, green leaves are everywhere.  The changing leaf color is magnificent.  The crisp Autumn air is exhilarating.  It is perfect weather to go walking with your dog or bike riding on the many wooded nearby trails.  Unfortunately, we had to put our 16 1/2 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever down 2 months ago.  I miss him so much that tonight we are rescuing a puppy.  A 8 week old female Labrador/Sheppard mix.  She is the cutest pup I have ever seen, but we've only seen her on the Internet.  I hope she … (0 comments)

riverwoods community: Why Riverwoods is Special - 07/22/08 02:11 PM
People often ask why living in Riverwoods is so special.  When we first moved to Riverwoods we thought we landed in Paradise.  The beauty of the environment is not the only thing that makes it special. It is really the unique mindset of the people that contribute to the special feeling attached to life in this community.  The Village of Riverwoods was incorporated in 1959. Early settlers were generally self-sufficient, and opposed to government services or interference.  They had their own wells and septic fields. Some of the homes were constructed with lumber from their own property.  The roads were privately owned. The fire department … (0 comments)

riverwoods community: Recent National Association of Realtors Convention in Las Vegas - 11/26/07 02:21 PM

Bill and I recently returned from the National Association of Realtors Convention in Las Vegas.  I thought when we planned the trip that it would be a chance for us to relax and unwind.  It was actually a whirlwind of classes, lectures, seminars, and a fabulous EXPO with vendors from all over the world. There were 30,000 Realtors in attendance. We attended classes from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for 4 days and never stepped out of the Venetian Hotel.  Some days we did not have time for lunch.  It was amazing and we learned lots.
The most interesting thing was the statement … (0 comments)
