books: Super Excited for Our Client's New Book Release - 10/13/21 10:22 AM
I am excited for our client, Darcy Eikenberg who just released a new book called “Red Cape Rescue: Save Your Career Without Leaving Your Job,” and wanted to share it with you!
It just came out and I think you’ll find it worth checking out, especially right now as so many things keep changing in our workplaces.
The book offers fresh ways to take back control of your life at work without overwhelming yourself and without changing everything in your life.
It’s written by leadership & career coach Darcy Eikenberg, who’s my client (we host and help manage her website), and I … (0 comments)

books: Day 11 Feeding the Positive Dog — Be A Coach - 03/15/20 09:06 PM
After getting lost in the moment on Day 10 of Feeding the Positive Dog, our challenge for the finale - Day 11 - is what I like to do everyday - Be A Coach.
Author Jon Gordon designed this 11 day experience as a daily strategy to feed ourself with positivity. If this is the first post in my series that you've read I encourage you to go back and read up on the previous daily posts leading up to now.
I have a lifelong journey of coaching in various capacities. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, one activity that allows me … (1 comments)

books: Day 10 Feeding the Positive Dog - Lose Yourself in the Moment - 03/15/20 08:41 PM
My 11 day experience outlined by Jon Gordon in his book "The Positive Dog," has reached Day 10.
In yesterday's post for Day 9 we were asked to write a gratitiude letter to an important person in our life. If you haven't read my letter to Herb Knoll yet you may want to check out that highlight of my week.
For day 10 the author tells us to lose yourself in the moment.
"When we are engaged in an activity in the present moment and doing something that interests us we feel more positive." Today choose an activity today that will engage, interest … (0 comments)

books: Day 9 Feeding the Positive Dog — Make a Gratitude Visit - 03/13/20 09:13 AM
Welcome back to my 11 day experiment based upon the book "The Positive Dog," authored by Jon Gordon. The author provides an 11 day plan for feeding the positive dog and becoming more positive. I joined a group of professional networking colleagues from the Naples, Florida GROW Business Network in commiting to this plan.
Day 9 of the process asks us to make a gratitude visit whereby we write a letter expressing our gratitude to someone.
Then we visit with this person and read them the letter.
His research shows that people who do this are measurably happier and less depressed … (0 comments)

books: Day 8 Feeding the Positive Dog — Take Out Your Telescope - 03/12/20 09:44 PM
After taking time to smell the roses on Day 7 of Feeding the Positive Dog, our challenge for Day 8 is a little more introspective.
Author Jon Gordon designed this 11 day experience as a daily strategy to feed ourself with positivity.
If this is the first post in my series that you've read I encourage you to go back and read up on the previous daily posts leading up to now.
After enjoying the nature around us yesterday you'd think that today's theme entailed more of the same as we're asked to take out the telescope.
Not the case.
Gordon says, "I … (2 comments)

books: Day 7 Feeding the Positive Dog — Smell the Roses - 03/12/20 08:07 PM
My 11 day experience outlined by Jon Gordon in his book "The Positive Dog," has reached Day 7. In yesterday's post for Day 6 we were asked to share the gift of kindness.
Day 7 of the journey asks us to smell the roses. What exactly does that mean?
In his book, Gordon cites that "according to Barbara Frederickson, author of "Positivity", research shows that spending time in nature boosts your positivity—especially when the weather is good. However, anyone who has been to the beach or taken a walk through a forest or spent time fishing on a lake knows how good … (0 comments)

books: Day 6 Feeding the Positive Dog — Share the Gift of Kindness - 03/10/20 07:57 PM
Welcome back to my 11 day experiment based upon the book "The Positive Dog," authored by Jon Gordon.  The author provides an 11 day plan for becoming more positive. I am joing a group of professional networking colleagues from the Naples, Florida GROW Business Network in commiting to this plan.
Day 6 of the process asks to share the gift of kindness.
Gordon cites "Sonja Lyubomirsky, author of the How of Happiness has been researching different techniques and strategies that increase our happiness. Not surprising one of the successful happiness boosters is performing acts of kindness—such as volunteering for a charity, opening the door … (1 comments)

books: Day 5 Feeding the Positive Dog — Spend time with Positive People - 03/09/20 06:27 AM
After a successful Day 4 of  Feeding the Positive Dog, I was on the launch pad for Day 5 which advises us to spend time with positive people.  Author Jon Gordon designed this 11 day experience as a daily strategy to feed ourself with positivity. If this is the first post in my series that you've read I encourage you to go back and read up on the previous daily posts leading up to now.
On Day 5 Gordon 's plan asks us to spend time with positive people.  Research shows that the old adage that money doesn’t buy happiness is true. However, … (5 comments)

books: Day 4 Feeding the Positive Dog — Celebrate your Success of the Day - 03/09/20 06:01 AM
My 11 day experience outlined by Jon Gordon in his book "The Positive Dog," has reached Day 4.  In yesterday's post for Day 3 we were reminded of the power of smiling and laughter.  Day 4 of the journey asks us to celebrate a success of the day.
Gordon's book explains that "according to sports psychologist Jim Fannin, the last 30 minutes of every waking day is recorded and replayed that night by our subconscious minds 15-17 times. This replay occurs 5 times more often than any other thought at any other time."
That's an amazing subconscious behavior to be aware of that … (1 comments)

books: Day 3 Feeding the Positive Dog - More Smiles and Laughter - 03/08/20 10:17 AM
In a post earlier this week I announced that I was joining a group of professionals from the GROW Business Network in experiencing the 11 day challenge outlined by Jon Gordon in his book "The Positive Dog."
Day 3 of the journey asks us to seek out more smiles and laughter.
Gordon cites that "children laugh about 400x a day while adults laugh only about 25x," and "research shows that smiling produces more serotonin in your brain and laughter reduces stress, increases your immune system and causes your body to release “feel good” endorphins."
Today's challenge is to seek out humor to cause laughter and smiling for at … (4 comments)
