One of the failings of our education system is that kids do not get taught about credit. Research shows that 40% of American adults do not understand the basics about credit. Worse, they believe false information about how credit works. For example, many people believe that job status, income and age play a role in determining a credit score. If parents are not aware of the facts then we can't expect credit to be effectively taught in the home.
