florida: Surprising Number of SWFL Businesses Unprepared for Irma Aftermath - 10/17/17 09:15 AM
During Hurricane Irma, one of my clients in southwest Florida - SkyLink Data Centers - stood as a fortress amongst the falling trees, mangled signs and broken windows, power outages and loss of internet service.
We have been helping them tell their story and share lessons learned so that businesses who lost twoo weeks or more of revenue might be a little more prepared for a future storm.  It's not always about escaping structural damage.  Without power and internet service, many businesses missed payroll, laid off workers, are behind on paying vendors and had hard time even communicating with their customers. For example, … (0 comments)

florida: My Top 10 Restaurants in Bonita Springs-Estero Corridor - 06/08/16 01:07 PM
There seems to be new eateries opening all the time in southwest Florida, especially south Lee County, also known as the Estero-Bonita Springs corridor. Whether all these restaurants survive the test of time (and the off season) remains to be seen. But there are a core of places to eat that are among my favorites and here's why...

My Top 10 Restaurants in Bonita Springs-Estero Corridor

1.Tropical Smoothie Cafe - I love walking to TS to get a smoothie (chocolate chiller with splenda, please) and half sandwich. It's about a 4 mile round trip for me and calorie neutral at worst. The smoothies … (0 comments)

florida: Transportation Infrastructure Improvements in Southwest Florida - 08/05/15 06:33 AM
According the Florida Chamber, Florida is ranked #1 in transportation infrastructure in the United States and no state has invested more capital towards this critical resource than Florida. Southwest Florida’s infrastructure is improving to accommodate rapid growth and is perfectly positioned to have your business succeed in our global market. Our airports are adding capacity for more passenger flights, highways are being widened to make shipping freight more safe and efficient between main hubs like Miami, Fort Myers, Tampa and Orlando as our sea ports are getting deeper to compete globally.

florida: Top 10 Markets Attracting Baby Boomers - 05/25/15 03:01 AM
Watch out Florida! The Baby Boomers are stampeding in your direction!
According to the American Community Survey conducted by the United States Census Bureau, nearly half of baby boomers that move end up in Florida!
More than one out of three baby boomers are flocking to the gulf coast corridor along Interstate 75 between Bradenton and Fort Myers (including booming areas such as Sarasota, Estero and Bonita Springs).
Below is the complete top ten ranking of the percentage of baby boomers moving into these hot markets:

florida: We Won The Deal - Here's How - 06/21/14 12:05 PM
Recently, my team participated in a process to earn a new client who had issued a public Request For Proposal (RFP) to have their website redesigned and other marketing services provided.
The first step was to submit a written response to the RFP. Being marketers, it was important for us to not only submit an intelligently written proposal but also one that showcased a little bit of our design ability. We created a beautiful document (suitable for both online and print) that combined the written word with pertinent visual images to illustrate key points.
Although there were 29 proposals submitted, iPartnerMedia was … (2 comments)

florida: 10th Annual Celebrate Estero, Florida! - 04/05/14 06:13 AM
I had the pleasure of attending the 10th annual Celebrate Estero business expo today at Miromar Outlets. The Estero Chamber of Commerce is the ring leader for organizing this event which grows every year.
What's best is my wife and I were able to simply walk from our home to Miromar Outlets and the event. That's one of the perks of living in several communities in Estero such as Stoneybrook, and Grandezza.
Estero, Florida is a vibrant, family friendly community pefectly nestled half way between Fort Myers and Naples. The centrality of Estero in Southwest Florida makes it convenient for business professionals and parents … (0 comments)

florida: Anyone Have Tips For Finding Lenders For Small Mortgages? - 03/21/14 09:29 AM
Property values are still depressed in some areas of Florida and other parts of the country, especially in the condo market.
This can make it tough for prospective buyers to get a mortgage because the loans sizes are so low that some lenders won't touch it.
Private lenders are an option but their fees and rates scare the higher quality borrower away.
When someone with good credit and income needs a $30k - $70k loan on a 50% LTV deal, are there lending options available other than the high price sources? Are there any niche lenders that actually cater to this … (3 comments)

florida: My Favorite Thing About Spring - Batter Up! - 03/20/14 02:29 PM
"Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack..."
The first thing that pops into my mind when I think about Spring is nothing other than our national pastime.
The long winter layoff since the last out of the last game of the last series has finally come to an end.
Spring training in Florida is a very special time. It makes for a unique experience where fans can be close up with their favorite baseball players who are stress free and relaxed.

The baseball industry is a huge boom to local economies and causes hotels, restaurants, golf courses and the like to experience … (2 comments)

florida: A Nefarious Marketing Campaign - Florida Realtors Should Be Ashamed! - 03/20/14 01:44 PM
Ok folks.  I am blowing the lid off the dirty little secret that Florida Realtors have harbored for who knows how long.
Florida is infested with cockroaches. Not just the human kind either (just kidding). And in Florida, we grow 'em big! These suckers aren't for the faint of heart.
For homebuyers relocating to Paradise from the Gulags of the snowbelt, seeing one of these creepy crawlers for the first time can be quite the Open House or private showing disrupter.
To help calm concerns of homebuyers who might see a dead (or God forbid living) critter cruising the hallways of … (2 comments)

florida: How The Term 'Open Source' Just Earned Me Another Website Project - 03/10/14 03:33 AM
Part of marketing is to differentiate your product or service fromt the other options in the marketplace.  There are a lot of website design companies available to small business owners. One of the things that I educate business owners about is the important of 'open source'.
When you build a website using a volume producer like MarketLeader or a similar cookie cutter service you are subscribing to a black box, proprietary platform. This means that you face less flexibility how the website looks and as new online marketing tools roll out, it may be impossible to deploy them on your website.

florida: I Love This Transaction Because I Have A Need For Speed - 02/09/14 12:52 PM
One of the memorable mortgage transactions that I had the opportunity to shepherd was not just for any customer, but a friend. And not just any friend, but a fraternity brother. "Brother in need" is a common term we use in our fraternity, Phi Sigma Kappa and this situation certainly fit the bill.
The transaction was somewhat unique in that the timeframe to execute the mortgage process was 15 business days. It also involved a relocation as my friend and his wife was moving to Florida from the Northeast. The pressure was on.
The situation was additionally challenged by the fact that … (6 comments)

florida: How To Use This Baseball Picture As A Sales Tool - 01/27/14 06:49 AM
Baseball is a popular sport and is played all across the United States. Are there unique baseball events happening in your area? Use them as a sales and marketing tool for your listings.
I just spent last week at New York Yankees Fantasy Camp in Tampa. Most professional teams offer a similar experience. This opportunity can be used as a great marketing plug for the area.

florida: How I Got Another Web Site Client From Facebook - 01/08/14 12:36 PM
Is your web site dusty?
I have researched hundreds of real estate domains. It is surprising to see how many web sites lack social media integration. In fact most sites look very dated and do not take advantage of the visual display advances that have been introduced in recent years.
A web site is like a car. You need a new one every 5-10 years. You need to put on new tires and change the filters and belts once in a while. Web sites no longer need to cost $10-$15k unless you ask for some serious functionality that requires a lot … (7 comments)
