Naples Community Orchestra will host its 30th season opener on Saturday, January 21, 3:00 p.m. at Moorings Presbyterian Church, 791 Harbour Drive in Naples.
 
The concert will feature the debut of Alvin Ho, the new artistic director at NCO and who also serves as assistant conductor with the Naples Philharmonic. 
 
 
The program will feature music from Mozart. In addition, the orchestra will perform a piece by Ari Fisher reflecting the theme of hope, poignancy and recovery.

The concert will feature Naples’ own acclaimed pianist, Jodie DeSalvo who will not only be performing but also conducting the orchestra for the first time. First, the Community Foundation of Collier County (CCFC) will provide the NCO board training in two areas; best board practices and strategic planning. Second, a grant from the Martin and Gustel Morton Foundation, New London, NH is intended to support student education. Last week I had the privilege of hosting the 2020 Local Image Awards, an annual event of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA).

Although the event is usually a dinner ceremony where attendees can celebrate together in-person, the COVID-19 pandemic cause the event to become online only. We livestreamed the event on April 23, 2020. Even if you are not familiar with FPRA, you may find this production entertaining.
The 30 minutes leading up to the show's kick-off features music performed by pianist Marc Collins.
