sarasota: Surprising Number of SWFL Businesses Unprepared for Irma Aftermath - 10/17/17 09:15 AM
During Hurricane Irma, one of my clients in southwest Florida - SkyLink Data Centers - stood as a fortress amongst the falling trees, mangled signs and broken windows, power outages and loss of internet service.
We have been helping them tell their story and share lessons learned so that businesses who lost twoo weeks or more of revenue might be a little more prepared for a future storm.  It's not always about escaping structural damage.  Without power and internet service, many businesses missed payroll, laid off workers, are behind on paying vendors and had hard time even communicating with their customers. For example, … (0 comments)

sarasota: Serving Customer Delight - Save the Date - Aug 23 Symposium - 05/09/17 08:58 PM
As chair of the 2017 symposium planning committee, my southwest Florida followers are encouraged to block August 23 on their calendar to attend the 4th annual Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Business Symposium.
Our theme this year is Serving Cutomer Delight and will feature more than a dozen speakers who will share best practices, tips and their experiences around this topic. sarasota: Proposed Law Will Help Realtors Sell More Property to Canadians - 04/09/14 06:02 AM
Did you know that Canadians are targeted in a specific measure of the immigration legislation currently being debated in Washington? We hear a lot about the immigration debate from and we tend to associate it with targeting Mexicans and other Central Americans crossing the border to find work.
However, there is a component of the current immigration bill which would allow Canadian snowbirds (and those of us in Florida know how many thousands there are), to stay longer in the United States.
Passing this bill into law will increase rent revenue for investors and commissions for real estate professionals that match leasors … (7 comments)

sarasota: Florida Real Estate Sales Driven By Cash Buyers - 04/07/14 08:20 AM
Florida led the nation by far in cash sales for residential real estate in February.
Statistics provided by RealtyTrac reveal that Cape Coral/Fort Myers had the highest percentage of cash sales in the country, 76.1 percent!

71.3 percent of Miami
69.4 percent of Sarasota/Venice
68.0 percent of Melbourne-Titusville
65.9 percent of Tampa Bay home sales were done in cash
62.7 percent of Lakeland
62.3 percent of Orlando
54.9 percent of Jacksonville
The challenges of getting a mortgage these days combined with the high number of foreclosure inventory that is being worked through contribute to this trend. In addition, many foreign … (6 comments)
