When you look at the numbers in the points summary and statistics, you may see that many people have visited your blog but they don't comment. Perhaps your blog post isn't compelling enough or they just don't have a comment or it's HUD (Housing and Urban Development) doing research. Even though it was HUD, I'm happy to say that when they were looking for information on the Milwood neighborhood, they found my blog first.

Novemeber 6 is the date for the Milwood Rattan Creek Neighborhood Cleanup. Just put your "stuff" at the curb by 7:00 am and the truck will be by to relieve you of all those things that have been piling up in your garage. We have 2 toilets!
Be sure to cut and bundle you limbs and brush in maximum 4 foot lengths no larger than 2 feet in diameter.
Also, hazardous materials that will not be taken are tires, batteries, oil, paint, combustibles, refrigerators, window units or anything with freon.

This Saturday, October 9 is the 19th Annual Milwood Rattan Creek Fest. It's a wonderful opportunity to support your community and meet your neighbors. Starting with a 5K run at 7:30 am meeting at the Rattan Creek Park and return from 10 am to 1 pm for fun events for kids, vendor booths and lots of camaraderie. Every time I drive home down the main street of my neighborhood past our wonderful park system I think about what a great neighborhood Milwood Rattan Creek is to live in. We moved here in 1990 and have never regretted it. There is a great park system which includes a community center which houses an axillary office for the sheriffs department, a pool, soccer fields, basketball, tennis and a terrific hike and bike. Saturday November 7, is the neighborhood curbside cleanup in Milwood - Rattan Creek Neighborhood Association. This event was once held at the park and you brought your large trash to them but last year the MUD implemented a change to pick up from you. This is for large items that aren't usually picked up on your regular trash day. Have your stuff at the curb before 7am

Milwood is an expansive area and has much to offer for a home buyer. The area south of McNeil Road is different that that north of McNeil Road because in general the home south are older, they are closer to downtown, they attend different schools and much of the area north is part of a municipal utility district. For this reason, I've divided the statistics into two.

A couple of years ago the bath house at the Rattan Creek Pool burned down. For a long time the park looked dismal but the Board got approval to build a community center in it's place and now the park is even better than before. If you live in the area, you may have visited the community center November 4th when it became the area polling place. Now there is going to be a Grand Opening Party December 20 4PM-8PM. Be sure to come visit and see how improved your neighborhood has become.

Writing about the Milwood area is of special interest to me because I have lived in Milwood since 1990. I've seen it grow and develop into a wonderful place to live with trees, parks, amenities and friendly neighbors. The Milwood neighborhood was developed by Bill Milburn and stretches a long distance along North Parmer Lane. I live in Milwood just north of McNeil between 183 and Parmer Ln. The neighborhood was built in the late 80's through the '90's so although it was once considered far out it's now relatively close in. There is an incredible park system that includes a beautiful park area with huge Oak trees, picnic areas, community pool, playground, tennis, soccer fields, basketball courts plus a hike and bike. Currently a clubhouse is being built. The elementary school, Pond Springs, is highly rated.
