Our Portland home staging company recently staged a large home (over 6,000 sq ft) to make it more appealing to potential buyers. When buyers walk into a big, empty house it's hard for them to see themselves living there, and large spaces can be confusing. Their questions usually include "What's the purpose of this room?" and "How will we place furniture in this space?" We recently staged a 1962 home in Portland Oregon that has been owned and lived in by one family for 50 years! When the heirs decided to sell the property, their listing agent suggested that home staging would help buyers imagine themselves living in this home. Walls were painted and new carpeting was added, but no major remodeling was done. When the family hired our home staging company for this project, I could see the potential here, but knew we'd have to "show" buyers that this home was worth a second look. You can drive down almost any residential street in your town and you'll see 'For Sale' signs ~ sometimes multiple signs on the same street. Since I'm a real estate stager in Portland OR I'm often visiting homes in many neighborhoods to meet a potential homeowner or Realtor client. I'm curious about some of the sign riders attached to 'For Sale' signs and want to ask the Realtor community: DO THESE SIGNS REALLY HELP TO PROMOTE A PROPERTY? ARE THEY A POSITIVE REFLECTION?
