The mystery may be solved .... I've been wondering why I get so hungry (and thirsty) while I'm staging a home in Portland Oregon, especially when I'm in the kitchen.
But with all of these temptations lying around, it's NO WONDER ...

No wonder I'm always famished when I finish a staging job!  When you've finished a project, do you rush home too for a bite to eat?

home staging advice in portland oregon: How to Stage an Entertainer's Kitchen in Portland OR (or anywhere else) - 04/17/10 12:43 PM
This week our company had the pleasure of staging a gorgeous 6600 sq ft new custom home in the Dunthorpe neighborhood of Portland Oregon.  The kitchen in this home is a chef's dream ~ professional appliances, lots of space, fabulous materials and a great layout, etc.  Since the price of this home is at the higher end, we wanted to show buyers that this kitchen would be a fantastic place to entertain your family and friends.
Just a few kitchen vignettes gave the impression we wanted ... I'm ready to make an offer (that is, if I'm lucky enough to win … (26 comments)

home staging advice in portland oregon: Portland Home Gets some Staging Magic ~ Before & Afters - 04/07/10 08:31 AM
Most savvy sellers today realize that home staging can help a home's presentation both in the online photos as well as for the in-person viewings.
Our companywas recently selected to stage a home in Portland OR;  this home already had very nice furniture but many of the accessory items had been removed by the sellers in an effort to "declutter."   The home had been on the market for a while and the feedback from the listing agent was that potential buyers found the home "cold"  (not in temperature, but in "feeling").  Since up to 90% of today's buyers are previewing the … (31 comments)

home staging advice in portland oregon: This sofa in Portland Oregon's Twenty-Third district was hiding a secret surprise! - 03/28/10 11:55 AM
Our company was recently contracted to stage a lovely 3-story townhome in Portland Oregon's trendy NW 23rd district.   This historic neighborhood is chock full of upscale boutiques, amazing restaurants and cafes, art galleries and coffee shops ~ all within walking distance.  While at one time this neighborhood was mainly an industrial area with few amenities, it has become one of Portland's most sought-after neighborhoods due to it's downtown location, availability of public transportation, and very high walk score.  The townhome we staged has a walk score of 97 out of 100 ~ considered a "walker's paradise."
The sellers had moved out … (23 comments)

home staging advice in portland oregon: How do you Quickly "Hide" the House Next Door when you're Selling? - 02/10/10 10:58 AM

Sellers often wonder what to do if the house next door is too close or if it doesn't make the best first impression on buyers.  Buyers are known to form an opinion about whether or not they like the house in less than 10 seconds, so sellers have to remove anything  that could become "deal breakers" and stand in the way of a buyer making an offer.

We recently viewed this lovely, large home in an excellent upscale neighborhood in Tualatin, Oregon (a Portland suburb).  However, upon entering the home and walking down the hallway, one … (37 comments)

home staging advice in portland oregon: Savvy Realtor Believes in Home Staging ~ Here's the Proof! - 12/08/09 08:02 AM

Savvy Portland Oregon Realtor Believes in Home Staging ~ Here's the Proof!
We've seen some lively discussions about whether staging can help properties sell faster.  Some real estate agents believe that it's all about price, and price alone ... get the price low enough and any property will sell, regardless of its condition or lack of appeal.
Another segment of savvy real estate professionals believe that home staging offers powerful benefits to sellers and their agents.  Today's buyers are interested in viewing properties that are "move in ready."  They don't want to spend time and money to paint, replace carpeting, … (32 comments)

home staging advice in portland oregon: 8 Myths of Staging to Sell ~ Busted - 11/09/09 03:41 AM
This post about 8 Myths of Home Staging is well worth reading ... thanks to Donna Ross for her thoughts on this topic.  A must read for sellers and their agents!
Home staging (or property styling as it's commonly known as on the Australian property scene) is really an art, not a science. One of the many things a professional home stager understands is that it's the house that's up for sale, not the home owner's bread baking ability or taste in music. So, from the sublime to the rediculous - here's 8 myths of staging to sell - busted!

SELLERS: SOME GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR HOME STAGING COMPANY
When you’re comparing home staging proposals, here are some questions to consider asking so that you can be confident you’re selecting the company that’s best for your project:
Is the home staging company registered in the City they’re based in and fully insured for liability in the event of property damage while on your premises?  Will they provide a copy of their insurance coverage to you? Does the staging company's pricing proposal include staging the same number of rooms  as your other proposals -- so that you can compare apples … (20 comments)

home staging advice in portland oregon: Motivated Sellers in Tigard OR get a little Help from their Team - 09/30/09 03:46 PM
When you're planning to sell your Tigard or Portland-area home, nothing beats having a team of motivated sellers, a Realtor with aggressive marketing skills, and a professional home stager.
When our company provided a home staging consultation to these sellers, they had recently combined households and knew they had too much "stuff" for selling their home;  at just 946 sq ft, every inch was fully utilized in this Tigard, OR home.
We walked through their ranch-style home with their agent taking notes, and discussed options for dealing with excess furniture and miscellaneous items.  They decided to get a POD (Portable On … (24 comments)

Portland OR Condo is Staged and SOLD in 4 days for 103% of the Asking Price
One of our Realtor partners asked me for a home staging proposal for a modest vacant condo in Portland OR recently. Since this condo faced stiff competition from several other units in the same complex (that had more updated features & designer paint colors compared to this unit) -- she knew that staging would give this townhouse an "edge."
We staged the townhouse and it sold for 103% of asking price in just 4 days!  Naturally the sellers and their Realtor are thrilled with the … (22 comments)

Dear Mr. Seller,
You contacted my company3 months ago and requested a staging proposal for your home.  It's in a premier Portland neighborhood and you said you knew it needed some help before listing. You'd already bought another home and were packing up your things to move out in a few days.
When I arrived to view your home, it was surprising to see a huge pool table in your dining room!  We laughed together about that and also the long heavy dark velvet drapes!  Your home needed major cleaning and packing up of many small items.  I knew we could … (104 comments)

home staging advice in portland oregon: Home Staging Tips for Sellers in Portland OR: Appeal to your TARGET Buyer - 08/19/09 11:25 AM
If you're selling your home in Portland Oregon here's a home staging tip for you:  Staging is much more than "decorating" a home for sale .... the most effective staging makes sure that your home appeals to your Target Buyer.
Who's your target buyer, you ask?  Good question!  You can determine this by looking at your neighborhood ... who lives there? Are they mostly young families, or retirees, or young trendy urban professionals, or perhaps a mix of several?  Talk to your Realtor to get their ideas on your neighborhood demographic (another reason why you should select a Realtor who specializes … (17 comments)
