downtown miami: BRIGHTLINE EASES TRAFFIC WHILE MIAMI WORLDCENTER LIKELY TO ADD - 09/10/18 11:49 AM
As the revitalization of downtown Miami continues to heat up, the Miami Worldcenter is starting to make waves as it gets closer to opening. Many developers in Miami began shifting gears last year as they prepared for potential market changes by modifying or even canceling pending projects. However, when it comes to the opening of the new Brightline commuter train, developers are quite happy with how it has positively affected the downtown market. “We’ve enjoyed a wonderful relationship with them [Brightline], in their development with ours,” said Nitin Motwani, managing principal and developer for Miami Worldcenter. While the Brightline is successfully making other parts of Florida more easily accessible and … (0 comments)

downtown miami: UPDATE ON THE REVITALIZATION OF DOWNTOWN MIAMI - 08/01/18 12:43 PM
Earlier this spring we wrote about the revitalization of downtown Miami. In just a few short months, many of these plans have come to fruition, progress is well underway and even more projects are in the works.
In June, we introduced you to the Okan Tower, the $300 million mixed use development by the Turkish billionaire businessman Bekir Okan. Located at 555 North Miami Avenue, Okan has announced that the building will rise to 70-stories and 890-feet, just slightly surpassing the almost-complete Panorama Tower. This will make the Okan Tower the state’s highest skyscraper.
Slated to take the shape of a tulip to pay homage to his … (0 comments)

downtown miami: X MIAMI OPENS DOWNTOWN OFFERING ‘RENT BY THE BED’ AND SHARED LIVING - 07/30/18 02:14 PM
July 30, 2018 – In a follow-up to our blog from earlier this month, the reality of shared living spaces has made its debut in Miami. Developer PMG recently opened its X Miami project (230 NE 4th St, Miami, FL 33132), which will be joined by X Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale in 2020.
Similar to WeWork and other shared office space concepts, X Miami offers rentals by the bedroom. The shared spaces each accommodate up to 3 residents with their own private bedroom and bathroom, but share the common kitchen and living areas. The X Miami building also features other common areas for all residents, including bars, gym, pools, gyms, dog parks, … (0 comments)

downtown miami: MIAMI URBANITES CHOOSE 2 WHEELED TRANSPORTATION AS BIKE SHARING SOARS - 06/14/18 12:45 PM
Now that we have access to chauffeured car rides at the touch of a button that literally arrive in minutes, who would have thought we would revert back to the form of transportation that became popular in 1817? That is exactly what is happening in nearly every major city in the U.S., including Miami.
Though most of us grew up riding bicycles to get around town, once it’s time for a driver’s license, bike transportation goes widely ignored. Apparently one of the biggest hindrances of biking to our destinations is the hassle of looking after that bicycle and worrying about getting it back home. Launched … (2 comments)

downtown miami: MIAMI COMMISSION VOTES IN SUPPORT OF F1 RACING IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI - 05/14/18 07:16 AM
Miami, start your engines! After an uncontested 5-0 vote by the Miami City Commission, F1 Racing is set to return to Miami for a long-term deal starting in 2019.
Resolution No. 22 has given the green light to bring the Formula 1 Racing Circuit to the City of Miami for the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix from 2019 to 2028. Over the past years, there have been multiple attempts to secure an American expansion of the famed international racing league. Championed by Liberty Media Corp., the new F1 owner has been working to bring racing to Las Vegas as well as New York, but for … (0 comments)

downtown miami: DOWNTOWN MIAMI’S MARRIOTT TO BE REPLACED BY 82-STORY SKYSCRAPER - 05/01/18 10:02 AM
Downtown Miami is always in a constant state of flux as superstructures are being constructed at a faster rate than any other recent growth cycle. Peppering the Miami skyline are more and more ultra-modern silver streaked high-rises that glisten in the sun - clear evidence of a rapidly changing city.  To make way for these new behemoths means the older ones must come down. Anyone who travels through downtown Miami comes face to face with the ‘classic’ 1970's era Courtyard by Marriott located adjacent to I-95 ramps and one of the busiest intersections downtown. Plans are underway to demolish the modest 14-story hotel to make way for … (0 comments)

downtown miami: THE REVITALIZATION OF DOWNTOWN MIAMI - 04/19/18 12:25 PM
There is a lot going on in Downtown Miami… and a lot of revitalization that is long overdue! Over the past several months, we have seen a variety of initiatives both planned and break ground to improve the livability of Downtown Miami. For far too long, the areas to the west of Biscayne Boulevard have been in need of some much needed love. Occupied by a dwindling amount of discount retailers, struggling budget restaurants, shelters, and wholesale shops, what should be a crown jewel of our city has been anything but.
Thankfully, due to some city initiatives as well as the acquisition by … (1 comments)

downtown miami: ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL IS BACK THIS WEEKEND FOR ITS 20TH YEAR - 03/23/18 10:52 AM

It’s that time again party people – Ultra and Winter Music Conferencehave descended on Miami for the 20th year in a row. Whether you’re a fan or simply tolerate it, the estimated $100 million in revenue it brings into Miami-Dade is too appealing for even commissioners to consider not supporting WMC. The 3-day festival attracts more than 100,000 people each day. Electronic music fans shell out anywhere from $300 – $1,500 for a ticket to dance to the sounds of world-famous DJs starting from 11am today until 11pm on Sunday night.
For those of you living in the luxury condos on Biscayne Blvd., you might … (0 comments)
