In the 1970’s and 80’s the goal for most people buying second homes was to have a place for the family to get away and spend most of their vacation time. Following the credit boom of the early 2000’s, vacation homeowners now expect their property to work for them and become an income-producing asset. The advent of the Internet has had a substantial impact on this change from vacation home to investment property. home sharing: X MIAMI OPENS DOWNTOWN OFFERING ‘RENT BY THE BED’ AND SHARED LIVING

July 30, 2018 – In a follow-up to our blog from earlier this month, the reality of shared living spaces has made its debut in Miami. Developer PMG recently opened its X Miami project (230 NE 4th St, Miami, FL 33132), which will be joined by X Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale in 2020. Similar to WeWork and other shared office space concepts, X Miami offers rentals by the bedroom. The shared spaces each accommodate up to 3 residents with their own private bedroom and bathroom, but share the common kitchen and living areas. The X Miami building also features other common areas for all residents, including bars, gym, pools, gyms, dog parks, (0 comments)
After talking to dozens of property owners, local and national media organizations and conducting extensive research, I have come to the conclusion that the majority on Miami Beach wants the ability to rent short-term, and that is well within their rights to do so.
Today, due in part to my work with the national non-profit civil rights organization, the Goldwater Institute, we are one step closer.

When was the last time you called for a taxi cab? If you’re like most people in major cities, it’s been a minute. But think back to 5 years ago when Uber and Lyft were just strange new app names and cars that arrived with crazy pink mustache grills almost seemed like a novelty as opposed to the necessity that many find it to be today.
