Every month the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce host a Rise and Shine Event for their members to recognize and celebrate an area business. This month we will be visiting the Paris Antique Shop located right on Northand Dr across from the Paris Fish Hatchery. One of the benefits of belonging to the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce is the networking opportunities. Each month they host both a Business Rise and Shine and Business After Hours. These are great time to get together with other area businesses outside of your normal business setting. This month we will be visiting the Mecosta County Medical Center Auxiliary in the lobby of the MCMC. Today is the first Friday of December which marks one of my favorite events of the year...The Mecosta County Chamber of Commerce Holiday Gala. The Chamber's largest annual fund-raiser, the Gala draws more than 200 Chamber members and friends together on the first Friday in December for an evening of fun. Yesterday's Ribbon Cutting at Mecosta County CARES (Companion Animal Resource/Education Society) introduced me to another great bunch of people dedicated to helping. From their FaceBook page I found this snippet that give us all a glimpse into what they do.
Mecosta County CARES (Companion Animal Resource/Education Society) was founded in 1998. Today, October 26, 2010 the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce gathered for a ribbon cutting at Mighty Muffler located right on Northland Dr in Big Rapids. The Mecosta Osceola Intermediate School District celebrated the opening of it's addition to Miller Wing with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday Oct 21, 2010. The 15,000 sq. ft. addition will also be used for Allied Health, Public Safety and Computer Aided Design programs. Ribbon cuttings are another great benefit offered by the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce. After the ribbon cutting we were treated to a luncheon by the Culinary Arts department. I had the opportunity to walk on the other side today. Like most Realtors®, I get my share of people looking for donations for many good causes but find myself trying to be polite and saying "let me think on it" or "I need to discuss it with my partner". A simple no would work but I don't want to offend. So when my local Chamber called on us Ambassadors to help with a membership drive, I was stoked and ready to help. The Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce had their monthly Rise and Shine in Paris this month. Paris, Mi of course. What a great way to start the day mixing with other area business owners and their employees. The Rise and Shine Events along with Business After Hours are just a couple of the great advantages to being a member of the Chamber.

Every year when the Fourth rolls around I am both excited and scared to death. Excited knowing that we will soon be sitting under amazing firework displays and scared because I know somewhere out there someone is think alcohol and fireworks play nice together. Every year someones Holiday memories is of an Emergency room after an accident. The memories of a Holiday without mishap are so much better. Here are a few tips to make this years Independence Day a good but safe one.
