An easy way to get some needed exercise is to take walks through your home community.  Add a camera and you will be photowalking as you seek the colors of the season.  My photowalks are usually in our home community of Kentlands in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
We will be planting summer flowers and plants after Mother's Day.

These are photographs of a gazania in our home garden. The  first photograph shows the natural colors. The second photograph is color edited just for fun. It is difficult to improve the gifts of nature but you can create a different impression with color.

Gazanias are small flowers with bold colors. We have them in the planter at the front of our home. They close up at night and then open again when the sun is shining. As you can see from the color of this gazania in the bright sun, they will be noticed. And, they are fun to photograph.
We have pink, yellow and orange gazanias. Orange is my favorite color for these flowers. They are classified as low maintenance annuals.

This dahlia is growing in the planter at the front of our home in Kentlands, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This is one of my favorite color combinations. It is fun to watch for the best light for flower photography. I prefer the morning light or a cloudy day to eliminate the shadows.

Flower photographers like to take advantage of the early morning light for good results. During the summer months, early morning are usually a little cooler for the exercise that many of us need.
The weather this morning was perfect for my photowalk through Kentlands, our home neighborhood in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The zinnia in this photograph is growing in planter on our front porch.

Our Peony season is coming to the end in our area. I just wish they lasted longer.  Take a photowalk through your home neighborhood and capture the colors of the season in the blooming flowers.

We have a chilly and rainy day in Maryland.  The Peonies are blooming in our Kentlands home garden but the weight of the rain water can cause the blooms to droop if the flowers are not supported. They do require additional attention in this weather.
An alternative is to do some cutting for an arrangement. Enjoy the colors of the season with your camera in hand.

I had to dig my way through deep snow to find the buried Washington Post this morning.  I was lucky to find it while shoveling the sidewalk in front of our house. We are still waiting for the snow plows to clear the alley to give us access to the public streets.
Much shoveling has me wishing for a younger body and an early spring. The younger body will not happen so the best wish is for an early spring.
Be careful if you must be out and about in the winter weather.

The winds are blowing down the fall leaves in Kentlands. I am glad that I took a few photographs in recent days. These are some photographs taken during a photowalk through our home neighborhood.
For out of the area readers, Kentlands is located in the City of Gaithersburg in Montgomery County, Maryland. This is a preferred area for families that are relocated to the Metro Area of Washington, DC.

If you find yourself on a Sunday evening without an idea for the final blog of the weekend, just post a flower photograph and nobody will complain about the number of missing words.
Brookside Gardens, in Wheaton, Maryland, is one of our favorite places to visit to enjoy the gardens and to photograph the flowers. At this time of the year, your best bet is to visit the Conservatory to see the Chrysanthemum Display.

Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, is one of the favorite day trip destinations for residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. One of the benefits of living in Gaithersburg is that we are within day trip distance of many very interesting places. Dolores and I are annual members of Longwood Gardens and we frequently visit.
