Les Trois Petits Cochons - Paté au Poivre Noir
One of the many benefits of retirement is that we can enjoy more happy hours without the worry of evening calls and appointments and can go out for early dinners to beat the crowds at our favorite restaurants.
For one of our happy hours at home we had Les Trois Petits Cochons (three little pigs) Paté au Poivre Noir, (pork and chicken liver paté with black peppercorns and topped with aspic), some Alouette brie cheese and a plate of toasted artisan baguettes.
The wine was Black Box California chardonnay. Did I mention that life is good!

Chef Dolores and I enjoy the Wine Down Monday specials at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Wines are 1/2 priced during the Monday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. happy hour and they have bar bites specials at the Firebar. During a recent visit, we tried the North by Northwest Columbia Valley Chardonnay and the Acrobat by King Estate Oregon Pinot Gris. The Wine Down Mondays 1/2 priced wines make Mondays a very good time to visit the Firebirds Wood Fired Grill in Gaithersburg, Maryland. If you go during the 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. happy hour and sit in the bar area, they have a nice selection of discounted Bar Bites. Panilonco Colchagua Valley Reserve Carmenere 2013 from Chile is an inexpensive red wine that we found at a Trader Joe's store in Williamsburg, Virginia. You may wish to try this wine on its own or with Italian cuisine or spicy courses. I think you will agree that this is a bargain.

The March TGIF Happy Hour for Kentlands residents is this Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Kentlands Clubhouse. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
You need to call today to RSVP, 301-948-4290, if you wish to attend the social event.
This is a good stop to make before going out to dinner. See old friends and make some new friends from the Kentlands community. Wine, beer and soft drinks will be served. There is no charge for the event.

Happier Hours in Kentlands at Bonefish Grill
One of the benefits of living in the Kentlands community is the convenience of many restaurants within walking distance. Happy Hour events provide a good time to meet with friends and neighbors.
Bonefish Grill has been one of the preferred places to meet for Happy Hour on Wednesdays because of their $5.00 specials that included their signature Bang Bang Shrimp along with half price drinks.
