Today is our 49th wedding anniversary and Dolores wanted to go out for a special lunch.  The restaurant she selected was Brasserie Beck in Kentlands. Brasserie Beck is a contemporary European style brasserie that is well known for its extensive selection of Belgian beers.

The next Kentlands community Progressive Dinner has been scheduled for April 26, 2014.  The dinner is open to all adult residents of Kentlands. The idea of the dinners is to meet with old and new neighbors in a friendly setting that will be fun for all.
The participants meet at the Kentlands Clubhouse for appetizers and then go to individual homes where six to eight people dine, wine and enjoy each other’s company. After dinner, everybody goes to one home for dessert. The cost is $10 per person.

Snow and ice has caused damage to many trees in Kentlands. The trees located in the medians and curb strips are owned by the City and are maintained by the City of Gaithersburg. Broken limbs, overhanging branches or downed trees can be reported to Public Works by calling 301-258-6370.

If a street light goes out on your block, you will want to know the number to call. Street lights in Kentlands are maintained by the City of Gaithersburg Department of Public Works. You should call 301-258-6370 to report street light outages. There is a number on the pole for each street light and you will need the number when making the call.
Kentlands community lights in alleys and common areas are maintained by the home owners association, Kentlands Citizens Assembly (KCA). Call the Kentlands Clubhouse if you have lighting questions or need assistance. 301-948-2071.

There is a 100% chance of snow on Tuesday and accumulations could exceed five inches.  Some new Kentlands residents may not be familiar with the parking and snow removal regulations for the City of Gaithersburg and for the Kentlands Citizens Assembly. When there is snow on the ground, the City of Gaithersburg provides show plowing services for the public streets.
Private contractors remove the snow in the Kentlands alleys. Individual occupants are responsible for clearing the areas between the alley and the garage entrance. If your neighbors are elderly … (16 comments)

One of my friends in the ActiveRain community commented that there is nothing to photograph in his neighborhood. This was in response to my suggestion to take photowalks through your neighborhood with your camera in hand.
I could tell by the comment that he is not an avid photographer. For those of us that are hobby photographers, there is always something to photograph during a neighborhood photowalk.
Take a walk and try a little harder to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. What's in your neighborhood?

When I take walks through Kentlands, our home community in Gaithersburg, Maryland, I look for the colors of the season. During much of the year, there are flowers to photograph. In December, most of the flowers are gone but there is still much to see when you take notice of the small things provided by nature.
Dolores and I had a quiet Christmas Day at home and a wonderful Christmas dinner. Enjoy the holidays with your camera in hand!

The Kentlands Citizens Assembly has issued a Winter Weather Reminder.  If snow is in the weather forecast, the best place for your automobiles is in your garage. If you park on public streets, be aware of the Snow Emergency Routes that need to be clear.
You will also want to make sure that your automobiles have been properly serviced and are ready for winter conditions. If your snow shovels are not in good condition, now is the time to pick up some new shovels.

The Kentlands Citizens Assembly is reminding Kentlands residents to leave alley lights on at night, from dusk until dawn. Well lighted alleys help prevent trip hazards, discourage crime and promote a safe environment throughout the neighborhood.
