The Montgomery County, Maryland Council has passed new e-scooter rules that are to become effective in 90 days.
Children under age 14, pending County Executive Marc Elrich’s signature, will be prohibited from using e-scooters while those under 18 must wear helmets, according to legislation approved Tuesday by the County Council that also requires e-scooters companies to register with the county Department of Transportation. 
The New Regulations:
A person under 14 is not allowed to operate an e-scooter. Exceptions to this include an assistive mobility device and recreational scooters that travel up to 10 miles per hour. County … (15 comments)

The restaurant specializes in chicken based on family recipes passed down from generation to generation and a fried chicken recipe that is considered a national treasure of Guatemala, according the release. The restaurant’s chicken options are hand-breaded fried and slow marinated, citrus-infused grilled chicken.

On Tuesday, August 2, these neighborhoods will hold events to increase drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, encourage residents to be involved in their communities, and send a message that neighborhoods and businesses are organized to fight back against crime. The NNO programs help bring together residents, law enforcement agencies, local officials, civic groups, and neighborhood organizations.

First All-Electric Vehicle Deployed by City of Gaithersburg, Maryland
 
The City recently deployed the first all-electric vehicle (EV) in its municipal fleet of approximately 200 cars and trucks. The new car joins 24 hybrid vehicles already in use. Electric vehicles eliminate tailpipe emissions, thus having a positive impact on air quality. This one car will reduce unleaded 87-octane gasoline use by as much as 350 gallons a year.
The new Chevy Bolt will be used by Parking Enforcement staff. Two more EVs have been ordered to replace other gas-powered vehicles in the City’s fleet.

Montgomery County recently showcased its expanded early warning Flood Sensor Program that can alert residents sooner about flooded roadways, potential dam failures and streams overflowing their banks. Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich was among those at a demonstration of one of the 35 high-tech sensors in Germantown. The U.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate is providing the County with the sensors.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich has nominated nine residents to serve on the County’s inaugural Police Accountability Board. In April, the Montgomery County Council approved Bill 49-21 that established a Police Accountability Board (PAB). State law requires every Maryland county to establish a PAB by July 1.
