Splash of Color
I enjoy photographing the gazanias in our Kentlands home garden. The natural colors are striking. After editing our flower photographs, I sometimes create additional images for my Imagination series which is just for fun. This series, by the way, has lots of followers on Pinterest.
This splash of color is a color edited gazania.

These are photographs of a gazania in our home garden. The  first photograph shows the natural colors. The second photograph is color edited just for fun. It is difficult to improve the gifts of nature but you can create a different impression with color.

Every real estate professional understands that outstanding photographs are necessary when marketing residential real estate.  When prospective home buyers are reviewing homes on the internet as they compile a list of properties they wish to see with their buyer agent, homes that are presented with poor or missing photographs tend to be quickly eliminated from consideration.
Photo editing allows us to improve almost every photograph. Sometimes the photographs need to be cropped or enhanced and we want to have the edited photograph readily accessible on our computer.

FAQ:  Do you edit your photographs?
All of my photographs are edited before they are placed on social media sites or used in blogs.  Some photographs do not need much and some have dramatic improvements with editing.  When editing real estate photographs, the goal is to improve the image but all should avoid over editing.
When you are taking hobby photographs, you have no restrictions on editing and play with the colors just to have fun.  Those that follow my blogs know that I enjoy photographing flowers.  I always retain the actual image that may improved but is still realistic. … (40 comments)

FAQ:  What do you use for photo editing?
Dolores and I use Canon cameras that include photo editing software when you purchase the camera.  It does a pretty good job but other editing software is even better.  For a good while, we used Picnik and that was discontinued by Google.
We now use the free photo editing at  It is easy to use and the results are quite acceptable.  Unless you are very talented or very lucky, almost every photograph can be improved by a little editing.  If you are using photographs in your marketing materials, all should be edited … (20 comments)

Missing Picnik?  Try ipiccy for your photo editing (It's FREE)
Many of us were comfortable with the use of Picnik for our easy editing of photographs.  And, we were upset when we received the notice that the Picnik service was being discontinued by Google and incorporated in Google+.  Picnik is now gone.   So, the search began for a replacement for Picnik.  Brad Andersohn recommended for ActiveRain members and I am now using ipiccy for most of my photo editing.  I recommend the site and suggest it for those that are seeking any easy way to edit their photographs.  By … (61 comments)

What will replace Picnik for editing photographs?
Some of us that rely on Picnik for our photo editing were shocked to see the notice that Picnik is closing on April 19, 2012.  Picnik is owned by Google.
I store my current photographs on Flickr and one of the features is to be able to edit the photographs on Picnik before posting in blogs, etc.
What will replace Picnik for editing photographs?  Will Google + offer an editing feature that will have the flexibility of Picnik?
