Thankful for Date Night
 
Tonight was date night. Dolores and I went to the Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland for a beer tasting. We tried the four craft beers in their Holiday Collection and the four craft beers in their Winter collection. The Holiday Collection was paired with cookies. This is one of our favorite breweries and we recommend the beer tastings which are always fun. I will write about some of these beers in future blogs. Gaithersburg is joining with the Indian Health Service Headquarters Employee's Association to host the 4thAnnual American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month Social Powwow. It takes place Saturday, November 14 from 2 - 9 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park.
This free, family-friendly event features traditional songs and dances, games, storytelling, and a silent auction. There will also be a hand drum singing competition and artisans selling crafts, jewelry, and other handmade items.

Today is going to be a HOT one in Montgomery County, Maryland!  
Extreme heat brings with it the possibility of heat-induced illnesses. During the hot, humid summer weather, the body's internal temperature can rise and can result in heat exhaustion and heatstroke. If not treated quickly, heat exhaustion can progress into heat stroke, which requires immediate medical care and can be fatal.
Signs and Symptoms:
Heat Exhaustion
·         Severe thirst
·         Muscle weakness
·         Nausea, sometimes vomiting
·         Irritability
·         Headache
·         Increased sweating
·         Cool clammy skin
·         Elevation of body temperature to 105 degrees Fahrenheit
·         Weak, rapid pulse
Heat Stroke
·         Severe, throbbing headache
·         Weakness, dizziness or confusion

The Kentlands Citizens Assembly has scheduled the June Happy Hour for Kentlands residents on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kentlands clubhouse. There is no charge for this adults only event but you are asked to register in advance.
The Happy Hour events provide a wonderful opportunity to meet with friends and neighbors and you might even meet some new best friends. Appetizers, wine, beer and soft drinks are served by staff members.
