Book Recommendation: James by Percival Everett
I enjoyed reading James (2024), a novel by Percival Everett, and recommend it for your reading list. When Dolores requested this book on the library website, there were over 700 requests for the book. The library has 45 copies.
If you were going to choose an author to rewrite The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the point of view of Jim/James, it would be difficult to find a better candidate for the job than Percival Everett, the dexterous master of multiple genres whose bitter satire Erasure became the outstanding film American Fiction. Spring loose leaf collection for single-family and townhouse owners in the City runs through April 11, weather permitting. Place leaves at the street curb by 7 a.m. on your regular recycling day. Before you begin cleaning up your yard, please consider leaving the leaves until after temperatures are constantly above 50 degrees. Many butterflies, bees and other beneficial pollinators are currently overwintering in the dead leaves and hollowed-out stems of last year’s plants.

While shopping at our local Aldi store in Gaithersburg, Maryland, we selected a Specially Selected Roasted Vegetable Bistro Style Flatbread for our dinner at home. It was delicious and a bargain at $3.79 for a dinner for two.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will hold six Community Conversations, one with each of the County’s five regional Citizen Advisory Boards, throughout March, April and May, to discuss long-term priorities and how he will address the Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) budget. All meetings are open to the public and encourage community participation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that nearly half of all traffic deaths on St. Patrick’s Day involve drunk drivers.
