roy and dolores kelley photographs: The Sandpiper Ornament on our Christmas Tree
- 12/23/20 10:47 AM
The Sandpiper Ornament on our Christmas Tree I was asked about the Sandpiper ornament on our Christmas tree. Long ago, Chef Dolores attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia to complete her art history degree. In those days, we had CB (Citizens Band) radios in our vehicles. It was before the times of cell phones. Dolores belonged to a CB club and attended monthly meetings with fellow commuters. Her CB handle was Sandpiper and one of her friends in the CB club made this ornament for her as a Christmas gift. Every ornament has a story. Nicknames given or adopted by CB radio users are known

- 12/22/20 12:55 PM
There is a story for each ornament on our Christmas tree We have been collecting Christmas tree ornaments for the 55+ years of our marriage. Each has a story. These stories probably need to be recorded but the stories will probably end when we are gone. This ornament is a painted sand dollar given to us by our friend Deb Wetherby many years ago. If you have walked many beaches, you may have found some sand dollars to pick up for your shell collection. Deb was one of my employees when she was still a young student. Unlike many past employees, she made it

- 12/18/20 09:00 AM
A Special Holiday Message From Santa Claus I was very fortunate to have a personal meeting with Santa Claus after his recent response to an ActiveRain blog that I had written. Santa asked me to convey a special message to all of the members of ActiveRain and their employees, friends and families. He sent special greetings to the residents of Kentlands, our home community. I did not realize that Santa followed my blogs. He said he especially enjoys my flower photographs. Don't worry, Santa knows that you have been good this year and still his your name on his list. The special message that

MeetUp with Santa Claus: An Important Report I had a very special MeetUp with Santa Claus in Colonial Williamsburg during one of his regular visits. I do not need anything for myself so I asked Santa about his plans for members of ActiveRain. He commented that bloggers are among his favorites because they document their activities. Sadly, Santa reported that some of the ActiveRain bloggers have been caught up in political and religious rants that place them in his naughty category. When I asked if there was room for negotiation, Santa agreed that if all of the members would be nice for this
