The Sports Authority Store in Gaithersburg to Close
 
The Sports Authority has filed for bankruptcy and has announced that they will close 140 of their 450 stores. The store in Gaithersburg at 110 Odendhal Avenue is included on the list of stores to be closed.

Kentlands residents are familiar with the regular 6 p.m. Friday night wine tastings at Pinky & Pepe's Grape Escape at 223 Kentlands Boulevard in Gaithersburg. On Friday night, March 4, 2016, there will be a kick off food drive for Mana Food Center. You are asked to participate in a collection of non-perishable food items to help the hungry in our community. This food drive will end on Thursday, March 10th.
The Friday night live entertainment will feature Freddie Long. Call 301-869-WINE (9463) if you have any questions.

Dolores was ready to go shopping but her Mercedes would not start. The 'Check Engine' light was flashing. AAA sent a flatbed truck to take the car to the shop but the driver determined that the problem was actually a dead battery. After a quick charge, we we able to drive the car to the shop for a check up and battery replacement.
We use Flower Hill Automotive at 8031-C Snouffer School Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20879 and recommend them for all of your automotive repair needs. The contact person is Richard Boyd at 301-869-8900.

According to news reports, the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia had sleep apnea, a potentially life threatening condition experienced by millions of Americans. The common treatment for this condition is the use of a CPAP machine that provides continuous positive airway pressure while sleeping.
Justice Scalia had a CPAP machine at his bedside but it was unplugged and not in use. We may never know if his life could have been saved if he were using his CPAP machine.

Dolores and I enjoyed a recent beer tasting at the Flying Dog Brewery at 4607 Wedgewood Blvd., Frederick Maryland 21703, phone 301-694-7899. Use the link to see the website and to learn about their outstanding beers.
We sampled seven different beers and our favorite was a limited release that is not yet shown on the website. The Rum Barrel Aged Gonzo was excellent. This beer has 11.8% alcohol.
The Tasting Room prices are $7 for a flight of four beers, $2 for samples or $4 by the glass.

Nothing But Bundt Cakes has opened their new store near Kentlands in the Shops at Potomac Valley at 12133 Darnestown Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878. The phone number is 240-224-7440. Dolores and I sampled one of their Bundtlets and the cake was delicious.

Chef Dolores changed roles and became our computer tech to install Windows 10 on our three home office computers. We are happy with the upgrade.
If you have not yet gone through this installation be prepared for the time it will take. The installation took about three hours for two of our computers and about five hours for my computer.

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA is one of our favorite travel destinations. The lily ponds are fun to visit during the summer months. This photograph was taken on a sunny day in September. It is often easier to get good flower photographs on a cloudy day when there are no shadows.
