Dolores and I are taking a break during November and December to enjoy our personal activities. Many think this is hard to do in the real estate business. Dahlias are among my favorite autumn flowers. This photograph was taken in our home garden in the Kentlands community in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Yes, Dahlias were blooming when it snowed and some are still blooming after the snow melted. Our thoughts are with our friends in the northeast that are without power and still facing the problems of clearing snow.

We have a beautiful sunny fall day and it is a major improvement over the snowy Saturday that we experienced in Maryland. The 5th Annual Halloween Rocks! festival will be held in Kentlands today from 3 to 7 p.m. It is open to the public and a large crowd is expected. The downtown Kentlands location for the event is the parking lot next to Potomac Pizza.

There are many Halloween decorations in our Kentlands community. I picked this happy scarecrow to send greetings to you for a very Happy Halloween.

White orchids for a snowy day in Maryland
We are having winter weather in Maryland today and heavy snow is predicted. This is not what we had planned for this fall weekend. Dolores and I had to cancel our weekend trip to West Chester, PA and our planned visit to Longwood Gardens to see the The Chrysanthemum Festival display and the featured weekend event, The National Chrysanthemum Society 68th Show.
Have a great weekend and be sure to have your camera in hand for those special moments which might include snow scenes in some areas of the northeast.

Halloween Rocks is this coming Monday, October 31 from 3-7pm in Kentlands Downtown. This event is free and open to the public and will feature trick-or-treating, crafts, games, a DJ and dancing, moonbounces, facepainting and a creative costume contest!

Blooming in the rain
When most of us think about beautiful flowers, sunny days and beautiful gardens come to mind. Rainy days and moments after the rain has stopped can be some of the best times to capture very interesting flower photographs. Dolores and I visited the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia on a rainy day and found the blooms covered with rain droplets.

Child Identification Programs
Farmville, Virginia real estate professional and ActiveRain blogger Larry Atkins recently posted a blog about a Virginia Child Identification Program that was held in Appomattox, VA. It was held at the time of a local festival and sponsored by a local organization.
