work from home: YOUR Home Office - 11/13/13 11:23 PM
To create a home office that invites you to enter it, comforts and relaxes you, and encourages creativity, here are some suggestions.
Make it a room of your “favorite things.”
A home office must be functional, certainly, but it also needs to reflect something special about you - displaying your hobby or craft works, a collection of favorite art pieces or interesting things you’ve gathered while on vacations or other travels.  Make your home office as comfortable as your favorite room in your home, and your home office may become just that - your favorite room!
Spice up functionality.
You know you need space to … (3 comments)

work from home: AR experts Jason Crouch & Frances Flynn Thorsen now FAMOUS! - 03/03/09 04:30 PM
As I was reading my March 2009 issue of Realtor magazine (I keep a stack of recent magazines in my "reading room"), I spotted Frances Flynn Thorsen's quotes in the article, "Ratings Matter".  It's a very informative article about how to manage your reputation in the age of social media.
Frances is one of my recent business associates and friends from ActiveRain, as you can see from my recent post about Webinars at http://activerain.com/blogsview/964867/Whats-your-Favorite-Webinar-Hosting-Platform-+-Invite-to-Growth-Leader-Mastermind-Call
So I was thrilled to see a fellow ARer featured so prominently!  And she does know her stuff...
And the article right before it, "Downsize with Dignity", included … (17 comments)

A webinar on "How to do Webinars" -- Last week I participated in this awesome webinar hosted by Frances Flynn-Thorsen, the guru of webinar hosting and promotion at Socialebb Strategies and Solutions.  She gave some great tips, and also discussed the in's and out's of various hosting platforms.  Here's her blog with the replay:

We all know about GoToMeeting, which is probably the top webinar platform that I see.  It has some super-cool features.  The participants can listen by phone or computer.  You can record the seminar for later use.  And the best feature is that when participants receiving confirmation of their registration, they … (17 comments)

work from home: "I don't need an Attorney; I'm not in trouble" Real Estate Agents say - 02/22/09 04:05 PM
Please DON'T wait until you're in a crisis to contact an attorney!  By then it may be too late to avoid an avoidable situation.  And you don't need to have done anything wrong to have the power of the justice system on your side.
28 Sample Situations in which you, a Real Estate Agent, could utilize an attorney and legal services:
1. You receive a collection letter for a bill 3 years ago, which you don't believe you owe.  They refuse to stop billing you, so you would like your attorney to contact the company.
2. Before you sign a contract … (4 comments)

work from home: Interview of Broker Realtor® Regina P. Brown - 01/25/09 04:06 PM
Before you hire someone to perform a job for you, what do you do?  Interview them of course!  I fully expect buyers and sellers to interview me, and I'm prepared.
Here are some of the most frequent interview questions and my answers:
Question: What areas do you cover?  What do you specialize in?
Regina: I cover the California Central Coast, from Santa Maria to Paso Robles and Cambria.  I specialize in ranches and acreage, first-time buyers, and investor properties.  As a native resident, I know the entire coast extremely well.
Question: What is your communication style?

work from home: What can you do with a SNIPPET of time? - 01/16/09 06:21 PM
What's a snippet of time?  A short stretch that may otherwise be wasted.  Such as:
Sitting in the doctor's office Waiting for your teenager to finish sports practice While hosting an open house (empty spaces between prospective buyers) Riding in a car (or on the train, bus, subway) Sitting in front of a listing waiting for your client to show up In a long line at the bank Vow to NOT have any more wasted slots of time!  Use your time-snippets to:
Read industry news magazines (I pack the latest issue of Realtor or Black Enterprise magazine) Write out a to-do list … (8 comments)

work from home: Searching for a Mentor? Here's some clues. - 01/13/09 05:54 PM
Want to skyrocket your career to a whole new level?  Maybe you've been thinking about learning tips from a pro on-the-job.
Who is a good mentor?  A mentor is a person who is willing to make a commitment to coach a less-experienced "mentee" at no charge or cost.  A mentor is ready to give back to others, to help contribute to another's growth.  A mentor is someone concerned about our future world, wanting to make a difference.
Determine a good Mentor who is a good fit for you.  When seeking a mentor, evaluate their compatibility with the following criteria:

work from home: Benefits of being a real REALTOR® - 01/13/09 05:39 PM
Since you just paid your annual Realtor® dues, you've been thinking about the big chunk of $$ money going out... and wondering if it's worth it?  And maybe, just maybe, secretly wondering if you can still operate your real estate business WITHOUT being a Realtor®...
Quick!  Think of a few benefits you get every year with your Realtor® membership.  I can think of 10:
1.  You get to use the term Realtor® which gives you instant recognition and credibility with the public.  If you don't believe me, wear a name badge and your Realtor® pin to the grocery store and see how … (7 comments)

work from home: Can a Life Coach help you? Take this Quiz and find out - 01/04/09 04:05 PM
Often we forget to take the time to reflect on what it is we really want in our lives. It could be a new home, a better work environment, a happy marriage, more time with the kids, or some "time off" rejuvenating in an exotic place.
What's really important to you - right now, no kidding? Grab a pen and paper and write down your answers. This isn't a test; writing just helps you see and touch your thoughts. Answer the questions as completely as you'd like, writing down the first things that come to mind.
What's the most important thing … (7 comments)

work from home: BOOK Review #2: The Slight Edge - 01/04/09 03:48 PM
This book can change your life.  Correction, only YOU can change your life. But it can open your eyes to ways that you can change your life -- for the better!  Check out this NEW book, "The Slight Edge" by personal development maven Jeff Olson.  This phenomenal book made a huge impact on my life, and changed the way I viewed myself and my business.
The "slight edge" is not about taking big action, it's about the little steps we take daily, which ultimately determine our success or failure in life. It's easy to do the "comfortable" things now, but later you will … (14 comments)

work from home: Web Site: Stand out from the Rest - 01/04/09 03:39 PM
There's more competition than ever before for internet business.  Here's what you can do to get your web site to stand out:
Choose a web designer to design for your vision, not theirs.

• What differentiates you from your competitors? While having a professionally designed and developed web site is key, be sure that you and your company are the focus.
Tell your customers about yourself to increase their confidence in your company.
• Whether you're a small family-owned business, or you're aiming for technical corporate look, your customers want to know about the people they're doing business with. Include … (18 comments)

work from home: Why I Love Lists! I'm a LIST-MANIAC - 01/04/09 03:17 PM
I admit it, I LOVE LISTS!!!  Ever since I can remember, I've been making lists of anything and everything.  Must've got it from my dad, the engineer.  Got his logical/analytical thinking also.
That's how my brain works.  From the moment I awake (sometimes even in my sleep), ideas start swirling around, thoughts start percolating, and I can't make my brain stop.  One thought leads to another, and then I get so many thoughts that my brain's on overload.  By then my brain's about to start loosing some of the dozen thoughts as they get crowded out by more and more thoughts.
Quick!  I … (11 comments)

work from home: Website with automated lead system from eProspecting - any feedback??? - 01/04/09 02:54 PM
So I got a SPAM email and actually read it before hitting the delete key.  It referred me to the eProspecting web site for real estate agents.  The monthly fees seem reasonable, if they really do deliver the SEO marketing and lead services as promised.
They say their web sites provide:
Fully MLS Enabled "Just Listed" email notifications to prospective buyers Professional Design Property Showcase Automated Email Campaigns Contacts and Leads At $50/month it seems reasonable; and $70/month if you include their Email Marketing Center also.
They do offer the 1st month free, so it is a great way to check … (8 comments)

work from home: Would you like to connect to 5,000 new people? - 01/04/09 02:14 PM
I thought it was impossible but I'm almost at 500 connections and adding more every day.  I'm close to 500 and I'll be at 5,000 very soon!
WHAT IS A LION?  "A LION is a LinkedIn Open Networker and it's easy to join - just look in the Groups section of LinkedIn.  To be an open networker means that you will accept almost all invitations; and if you decide not to accept, you will NEVER mark "I don't know that person."  It's just good open networking etiquette not to do that." Thanks to Carol Deckert, Netweaving/Networking Coach at http://www.CarolConnectsPeople.com/blog for this info.

work from home: Are you really a real Realtor®? - 01/04/09 01:37 PM
Who's a REAL Realtor®?  Do you call every real estate agent a Realtor?  Some people refer to all real estate salespeople as Realtors®, but they are NOT all Realtors®!
ATTENTION REALTORS®!  If you use the term "Realtor®", you must CAPITALIZE the initial "R" and include the registration mark ®.  Sometimes, such as email or text messages, it's difficult to use the ® mark.  If so, you can just put the "R" in parenthesis, such as (R).  I do it as often as possible, as long as it's not confusing to the reader.
Are these terms confusing? Here's a quick rundown of agent terms:
