Recent news reveals more cause for confidence in the current real estate market. NAR President Pat V. Combs said "It appears the worst of the price correction is behind us. More stable home prices and declining mortgage interest rates are increasing buying power, which should encourage potential buyers who have been on the sidelines." Backing up that seemingly optimistic view are several market indicators: 1Q '07 sales of existing homes: up 2.4 percent compared to the previous quarter. Single-family home resale prices: up from a year ago in 82 of 145 metropolitan areas surveyed.Existing-home sales: up 1.2 percent in the Northeast, compared to the same period a year ago.
