montgomery county: There's a whole lot of royalty in these parts! - 02/12/11 10:31 AM
Americans tend to be obsessed with royalty.  Two hundred and thirty five years ago we were fighting to get away from the monarchy -- but now we seem to be collectively drooling over the upcoming royal wedding.
And we love to dub businesses with royal titles, too.  And look how some succeed! You have the royal couple, Burger King and Dairy Queen.  With their children Princess Cruise Lines and Prince Tennis.
But if you're from the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania area, you might just want to dethrone Dairy Queen and replace her with a local favorite:

montgomery county: Enjoy the 4th of July Fireworks in Montgomery County, PA! - 07/02/10 01:06 AM
The Fourth of July means so many things to us - but to many it means fireworks!

But given the current state of the economy, many local townships and boroughs in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania no longer offer the annual awe inspiring display of pyrotechnics.    Not to fear!  Regardless of where you live in the county, you're bound to be close to one of the dozen fireworks spectaculars taking place throughout the county over this holiday weekend.  Here is a list of dates, times and places: Abington

montgomery county: What makes a town a great place to live? Ask someone who lives in Lansdale, PA - 06/21/10 11:49 AM
What makes a town a great place to live?
Above all, it's the people.  Regardless of the great restaurants, fun shops, beautiful parks or ease of transportation, a town is only as good as its inhabitants.

I live in Lansdale, Pennsylvania - population 16,071 .  That may sound small, until you realize that Lansdale is a small, historic borough located in Montgomery County. A county with 750,097 inhabitants.  And that county is located in the Philadelphia suburbs - a Metropolitan Statistical Area with over 5.8 million people.
So how does little Lansdale stand out?  Well, when I walk to our Main … (8 comments)

montgomery county: Wah! But I want to go to North Wales! (No, not that kind of whine!) - 03/19/10 08:32 AM
When I say "Suburban Philadelphia" who thinks of  great wine?  No one?  I'm not going to say we are the Napa Valley of the East (arguably, the Hudson Valley of New York produces the finest wines of the east), we do have some great local wineries!

Central Montgomery County, Pennsylvania is home to the historic borough of North Wales (pop. 3,342).  Located conveniently on SEPTA's R5 Regional Rail line, North Wales is also an easy drive from all points, being close to PA Rtes. 309 and 202.
Our highlight of the day is  Boyd's Cardinal Hollow Winery (www.cardinalhollowwinery.com).  The Wine … (0 comments)

montgomery county: Take Time to Stop and Smell the . . . Hay? - 03/16/10 09:49 AM
Well, we're four days shy of spring -- but the weather was so glorious today I just had to get outside.  And when I do that, I need to have my camera handy, because we often forget how much natural beauty there is around us.
I live in suburban Philadelphia -- central Montgomery County.  One of the things that makes this area so wonderful is its proximity to Philadelphia.  But also how it retains, in many places, its rural charm.  This farm is located on the north side of Valley Forge Road in Worcester Township.  How many times I have whizzed by … (5 comments)
