Well is does not happen often, but when it does it is big news! This past Saturday we received upwards of 13 inches of snow in Ocean City MD! In many areas to the North, this may not seem like a lot, and merely just an inconvience, but here at the beach, 13 inches of snow is somewhat crippling! We are just not used to this much of the white stuff. It is amazing how as we grow, the sign of snow affects us differently. Quite frankly I would be happy never to see snow again! If you did not listen closely you probably missed it! At the forefront of most media outlets this past week was the ongoing turmoil on Wall Street, but at the bottom of the page in very small print was what should have been the headline, Existing Home Sales Rise by 5.5%! No one wants the public to know this as negative news sells, but the National Association of Realtors reported on Friday that sales actually jumped up in August due to the fact that buyers are taking advantage of lower prices in many markets. Well the numbers are out for June 2008! Although the market appears to still be declining there are some bright spots to report. Most importantly the inventory in the condo market has been decreasing since April and at the present time we have 1,560 condominiums for sale on the beach as apposed to 1,682 in July of 2007. This is the lowest inventory level we have seen since the end of 2006. The month-to-month comparison shows a reduction of 30%. Another bright spot is the $300,000-$399,999 price range where in June we experienced an increase in contracts written by more than 45% … (0 comments)
