salem oregon homes: Salem Oregon Home Trends for February 2010 - 03/12/10 03:23 PM
"Get $8,000 tax credit" scream the real estate sign riders...just in case you weren't aware that it was out there.   The count down has been so apparent this past month as the Salem Oregon real estate market started early. Typically I tell clients that the market starts to heat up in April, but agents were running amok this month as things got busy much earlier than usual. Sellers are out trying to get their home sold for the tax credit and buyers are out trying to get the tax credits. So...where does all this frantic activity leave the Salem real … (3 comments)

salem oregon homes: Data Geek Speak: Salem Oregon real estate market report January 2010 - 02/20/10 03:01 PM
I'm a bit behind on my real estate market reports.   It happens...

So what's the news this month?  Did we start of the year with a bang or bust?
The good news...median home price was down (Yep...that's good news in these parts as home prices need to be more in line with incomes)

The good news…Salem Oregon homes sales were up 6.25% over January 2009.

The bad news…the current home inventory as I write is 15.9 months for Salem Oregon which is a huge surge upward from December's 7 month inventory.  Now this really isn't a huge surprise. … (3 comments)

I like to cook.  As I am writing this post, I have some fresh bread rising waiting to go into the oven in an hour or so. In fact my 8 year old only-eating-macaroni-and-cheese son told me I was a great cook when I added Canadian bacon to the homemade mac and cheese.  I think I'm headed for Top Chef with that complicated recipe...
I also make a mean strawberry pie.  In Oregon we have a kind of strawberry called Independence.  I don't think they go outside of Oregon because they have such a high sugar content that you literally have … (8 comments)

salem oregon homes: By any means necessary - 11/06/08 05:09 AM
Have you ever read an article that just left you dumbfounded?  You re-read it a couple of times because you weren't sure that you read it correctly?  Did they really do what this article said?
Today was just one of those days.  My little Google update widget sprang into action this morning sending me news related to real estate across the nation.  As Realtor gets license back after break-in penalty popped up, I couldn't help but click over. Now I really try and not be judgmental, but what the heck?? An agent breaks into a house to show it to a buyer, … (26 comments)
