One of the “favorite places” for all things lake living in lake country, (Western Waukesha County) is a city of just over 15,000 residents called Oconomowoc. It looks harder than it is to pronounce…OH Con O Mow Walk ! It is another Potawatomi Indian name meaning “Waterfall”. It is just a little over 12 square miles in size. Beaches are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend. Both Bender Beach and City Beach are popular with Lifeguards on duty at all city beaches during hours of operation.
