It is with gratitude and appreciation that we remember those brave individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Every day, we send our thoughts and prayers to those serving in the armed forces around the world that they may return safely to their families. We applaud the Wisconsin high student from Sparta, Sabrina Brady, who won the contest this year for her Memorial Day Google Doodle. In Wisconsin, Memorial Day is the first holiday where there is any hint of warm weather...you will find every greenhouse and nursery buzzing with customers...it's a tradition...you dare not plant anything before Memoria Day or risk the chance that a last frost will destroy that pansy, daisy, petunia bloom and you will be forced to start over with another batch of heartier plants set to survive the summer. I can't remember a Memorial Day weekend in a lifetime in Wisconsin when it didn't rain.. It got the ground softer for planting..it dampened the spirits a little for the children … (0 comments)
