Sam Shueh Silicon Valley Realtor I learned May 5th holiday (Cinco de Mayo) is not celebrating Mexican Independence Day which happens on the same day. Rather 50 years after its Independence Day the Mexican army defeated French (not Spanish) at battle of Puebla near Puebla de Zaragoza.
