Las Colonias Park Awarded $1.6M for Music Venue And Will Become a Major Attraction. Grand Junction Las Colonias Park is a 123 acre park and is located along the banks of the Colorado River. The park has a rich and diverse history, and is situated upstream from the namesake of the community, the confluence of the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers. Las Colonais was formerly used as a migrant farm housing then a uranium mill which produced 2.2 million tons of radioactive tailings. DeBeque School District Passes $11.4 Million Bond and Received $5.35 Million Grant for School Construction DeBeque hopes to finish construction and have students in the building by August 2017. The successful bond measure to fund a new elementary school and improve the middle and high school has the town of DeBeque community rejoicing. The $11.4 million bond along with a $5.35 million grant from the Building Excellent Schools Today program will make the project possible. The school district has a design team in place to construct a new elementary school as an addition to the current middle and high school, which eliminates the safety concerns of (0 comments)
