GRAND RE-OPENING Red Lion Arts Gallery & Studio will celebrate its new location with a reception from 6–9 p.m. Friday, April 5, on the lower level of The Mercantile Building, 546 Main St. Meet the gallery owners, learn about their vision for the gallery and view the artwork from the gallery's featured artists. Downtown Grand Junction Christmas Tree Lighting The weather was cold, but they still came. Adults, families, children all anxiously awaiting the lighting of the 2015 Christmas Tree and the arrival of Santa! Christmas music was playing on the square and suddenly the Christmas Tree was ablaze with lights! At 6 pm, Santa appeared on the roof of the Wells Fargo Bank building, waving to the packed crowd. Grand Junction Fire Department was on hand to retrieve Santa from the roof top and bring him safely to the ground. A giant chrome buffalo, three large gorillas, a dinosaur on a bicycle, these are just a few of the more than 100 outdoor sculptures you will find on the streets of Downtown Grand Junction. The tree lined, pedestrian friendly streets with the outdoor sculptures is Grand Junction's most popular attraction. Thirty years ago, Dave Davis and 10 other Grand Junction sculptors had a great idea to stimulate an oppressed Downtown Grand Junction. Canyon View Park and Sports Complex, Grand Junction's Premier Park!
The park encompasses over 110 acres and there is a myriad of things to do! Let's start with helping you find Canyon View Park. The primary entrance for Canyon View is off of 24 Road, about 2/3 of the way from G Road to I-70. There is also an entrance just east of 24 road on G Road. Once you are in the park just pick one of the many parking areas and choose an activity. There are numerous shelters located throughout the complex, all have restrooms.
