Influenza has been reported in Newberg schools. It is not known whether or not this is H1N1 influenza because doctors and emergency rooms are not testing for H1N1 flu.
 
Anyone with influenza needs to remain at home. Influenza is a viral illness characterized by a fever above 100o, a cough, sore throat, body aches chills nausea and fatigue. H1N1 flu symptoms are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu.

Let your voice be heard, let your opinions be known!  What are your ideas for reductions?
The Newberg School Board and Budget Committee are holding five open houses to listen to public comments on the proposed school budget reductions.In particular, Staff will be on hand to answer questions. The Newberg High School dropout rate for 2007-08 was 2.93% down from 5.2 percent the previous year.  This is the lowest rate since statewide reporting began in 1991.
The 2007-08 dropout rate reflects the first year Newberg students were in small schools; rates from previous years reflected a comprehensive high school.
Principals and counselors attribute the decline in the number of dropouts to personalization in small schools.  School Principal Carol Campbell states; "small school students are known well and we track individual students who are at risk."  She adds that relationships formed with school staff members contribute to interventions with students … (2 comments)
