activerain: I Think There Is Some Real Good "Crap" Raining In ActiveRain Today

I Think There Is Some Real Good "Crap" Raining In ActiveRain Today This morning I wrote a post asking the AR community what 3 changes they would make to ActiveRain-Trulia is they were the Chief Change Officer. That post may be found here. While I was reading posts and commenting this morning I clicked on Richard's post: It’s NOT a blog. It’s ad copy! I read it and did not leave a comment. I did not know what to say. The post was later Featured. Later today I noticed that Richard updated his post with Part II to his original post. After reading the

You've Just Been Appointed CCO of ActiveRain/Trulia - Now What? In this case, CCO means Chief Change Officer. Your appointment, if you choose to accept it, requires you to identify the top 3 things you feel need to be changed in ActiveRain. Assume you have full power to effect the changes ... you do not need a vote of the board or executive officers. You have the power to change ActiveRain in 3 ways. What are they?

Thank You Tim and Tammy Emineth of Personal SEO For Your Service This is a huge shout out for Tammy and Tim Emineth of Personal SEO. I feel strongly that when people do good things it is appropriate that they are recognized and honored for their doing good! Not only are Tammy and Tim good down to earth people, they epitomize professionalism and quality service. Tammy and Tim have done a fair amount of work for me over the years. I rank them at the top of the people I have resourced and hired from the ActiveRain Community. We've all heard the expression "If it

Do You Feel ActiveRain Needs To Be Strict On Plagiarism? John Meussner wrote a great post regarding the recent change ActiveRain made regarding points for up to 20 posts per week. Not only did John use a fun word "hullabaloo" he brings up a great point regarding plagiarism in the Rain. If you missed John's post you may read it here. John wrote: "I would suggest that with this change, ActiveRain become very strict in their punishments for plagiarism and copy/paste posters." I am not a closet whistle blower on those who plagiarize. Therefore, I'm not shy

- 03/30/14 11:55 AM
Bay Area Meet-Up Was a Learning Success We had 9 Active Rain members, including yours truly at the Meet-Up on Friday, March 28, 2014. There was one guest in attendance as well. All attendees received an ActiveRain Blog sticker shown below. The first half hour of so was spent eating lunch and visiting with each other. Karen Crowson brought up the subject of Alzheimers. Karen shared she is learning about this disease because it is impacting her Dad. Before long Pacita Dimacali shared it is impacting her Dad as well. Our presenter, Jacquie Berry shared stories of how it impacted her Dad and I chimed in about how

What’s A What - Whatchamacallit | What Is Weltanschauung? As part of the 2014 Big Jumpstart Challenge we were asked to select an aspect that speaks to us personally, to our own experience or world view, and write a post about our choice of topic. Weltanschauung: the guiding principles and philosophy of an organization; a world view. Guiding Principle #1: We understand that the value of the ActiveRain community rests entirely with its members. We admire the spirit of real estate professionals and believe our goal is to fully engage their talents and knowledge for the benefit of all members of the real estate community. If all members fully embrace Guiding

Random Thoughts About Featured Posts and Inman News - Much Ado About? While enjoying my morning tea, reading blogs and commenting in the Rain this morning, I stumbled upon Kerrie's post, The Rain Bucket. Kerrie's post covered many things, among them Inman Love. She shared that both Dick Greenberg and Bryan Roberston were both picked up by Inman News last week. Congratulations Dick and Bryan! Active Bloggers here in the Rain know that Dick and Bryan write a lot of content that gets Featured. That's just what happens when people write original, relevant content. Let's not hold that against them. They are

activerain: A Special Thanks For Juli Vosmik
- 01/02/14 02:52 AM
A Special Thanks for Juli Vosmik At long last I get to share the contents of the package Juli Vosmik sent to me which took 21 days to get from Scottsdale, Arizona to San Jose, California. Inside the box was a lovely Christmas card, beautiful handmade afghan, a matching hat and scarf set, a hat for Dan the Safeway Man, and the now infamous Gingerbread Men in a holiday tin. You may know that Juli made me several chemo caps last year. Since then she makes chemo caps and donates them to her local hospital/chemo center. This is just what

My Gingerbread Men Arrived - Sadly There Were Casualties If you have not followed the story about the Gingerbread Boys and there unplanned travels around the Nation prior to arriving in San Jose, please read Scottsdale AZ Realtor® Juli Vosmik's post The Traveling Gingerbread Men An ActiveRain Christmas Story. The package left Scottsdale, Arizona on December 9, 2013. It arrived in Bell Gardens, California on December 10, 2013. It was lost for 10 days before Juli tracked the package sitting in a shorting facility back east. The package was finally delivered by the USPS to San Jose, CA on December 30, 2013, only 21 days after it left Arizona.

- 12/14/13 02:25 AM
ASK AN AMBASSADOR: What Do I Do When I Find A Plagiarized Post? The first thing to do is to call the police. After all, copyright infringement is against the law. If you don't believe me, ask Lenn Harley. Lenn wears the moniker, whether she wants it or not, as ActiveRain's Copyright Queen. Clearly, I am using humor here - not about Lenn Harley, but about calling the police. The police do not regulate copyright laws. I received an email from a relatively new ActiveRain member addressing this very topic. The person read a post and knew it sounded very familiar. Being

- 12/08/13 10:29 AM
Hey Everybody - What's Your 2013 Theme Song? My name is Kathleen Daniels and I am an AR Addict. I'm wondering if it is even legal to have so much fun hosting an AR contest. Today is day 4 of the challenge. We have 29 entries so far. I am enjoying reading all of the entries. I am sure the mystery judge(s) are too. I've heard songs I've never heard before. I've heard songs that I have not heard in a long time ... but they caused me to stand up and dance my bottom away. The ActiveRain

Ask An Ambassador: What's A Good Way To Rack And Stack Up More Points? I have a confession to make. I was a fairly active blogger here in the Rain for years before I figured out there were CONTESTS and we get POINTS for participating. Since then, I've become a self professed point junkie. Yes, Junkie. I am Addicted to ActiveRain and Addicted to Points. Contests are a great way to rack up points. In addition to the 100 points we get for logging in each day, 25 points for up to 10 comments made each day, 225 points

Ask An Ambassador: What Does Someone Mean By Earning A Gold Star? I received an email from an AR Newbie asking me "what someone means by earning a gold star." They also stated in the email that they are "serious about learning how a post gets featured." Of course reading the email put a big smile on my face. Is that not what we ALL want to know - How does a post get Featured? Let me first respond to what it means to earn a gold star. The coveted ActiveRain Gold Star represents a Featured Post. - 11/11/13 05:10 AM
Managing My San Jose Real Estate Business When I Am Out of Town As a San Jose real estate agent I use a lot of technology that allows me to manage my business when I am out of town. While I may not take many vacations per se, I do find from time to time that I must leave town for weddings, funerals, or other events. DocuSign and ActiveRain challenged the AR community to share our experience of being on vacation, or otherwise away from our business, and how we use technology to help get something accomplished when we

AR Meet-Up at Tres on 11-8-2013 Following The NAR Conference It's not easy getting the attention of 23 people, mostly ActiveRain members, who are actively engaged in conversations to pose for a photo. However, as you can see, we did it! It was so nice to see so many new faces as well as many local bay area ActiveRain members. Of course it is always nice to see the people behind the scenes at ActiveRain who work to make AR even better. Thank you Kerrie and Bob for making rain with us at TRES following the NAR Conference in

- 11/05/13 02:49 AM
The Power of ActiveRain Connections - It's All About The People ActiveRain and real estate is truly about the people and the connections we make. We list and sell homes for people. Without the people there would be no homes to list and sell. I truly marvel at the connections we make in ActiveRain and with the people who become our clients. Earlier this year I received a referral from Elisa Uribe. Fortunately I did win the business on the referral - whew! How embarrassing would that have been if they did not hire me? Ah, but I digress. I listed Elisa's

Read This If You Are Attending The NAR Conference in San Francisco NAR is right around the corner. In one week I will be picking Joan Cox up from the airport. Joan and I agreed to be roommates during the conference. I hope she does not snore! I look forward to meeting Joan for the very first time on November 7, 2013. I know we will toast with a glass of champagne or wine. Meeting Joan is something to celebrate. Who else might I be meeting at NAR? Kerrie La Guardia - who I met years ago at RainCamp in San

Today I Became AR's Newest Millionaire! Who Wants to be a Millionaire? I am so glad I captured the above early this morning when I logged in. I just love the 007 in the million points number. What a journey its been. So much learning, laughter, joy, tears, friendships formed, connections, referrals, RainCamp, meet-ups, posts, comments, contests, challenges, recently honored to moderate the BananaTude Group, what else can be said? Let's not forget the many phone conversations with fellow Rainers that last for hours. No kidding ... for hours! And, they are not all with women. I've had many a

ActiveRain Meet-Up On August 21, 2013 At VIE Winery On Treasure Island Yeah, I know. The August Meet-Ups are old news now. But, in all fairness to everyone who participated this video deserves to be posted. Not only am I video challenged, still learning, I was also time challenged following the event. This video was taken when the meet-up first got started. It felt like that might have been all the people that would show up. I generally don't like being wrong ... but I was really wrong about it. We had many more people show up and they all
