I'm reading "A Whack on the Side of the Head" by Roger von Oech, recommended by Ed Rybczynski. I'm going to second Ed's motion and suggest that all of you go buy this book!! I'm having a GREAT time with it. I have a post ready for the Real Estate Shows Blog about this book, but I wanted to talk about it more here, too, for the three of you who haven't yet joined Real Estate Shows. ;o) I'm a creative person and I enjoy that I don't see the world quite like anyone else. Lately I've heard from several people that they think they'd like to become a real estate agent. After I talk to them about it for a few minutes, I hear about the two week licensing class and flexible schedule, plus looking at the pretty houses -- it's a simplified version of the job and probably a view I had myself! The truth is that there is a roughly 80% failure rate for new agents. Licensing classes don't tell you about fees and start up costs, which will be surprising if no one has warned you. This is a little something different I did for my last open house. I'm helping my little sister in law prepare for her upcoming wedding and discovered pyramid boxes. As a fairly creative, crafty person who is obsessed with real estate, I merged the pyramid/real estate thing and came up with an unusual "brochure" of sorts. I printed up a business card with a quick breakdown of information and website links to find out more. Inside they'll find a couple pieces of hard candy.
