It's All about Family - Wednesday at the Masters!
Wednesday morning at the Masters Golf Tournament was cold but sunny!  For those who don't know this area of Georgia and South Carolina, it is a short 45 minute ride from our home in Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC to the Masters parking lot!
Thank goodness, Wednesday's wind was not gusting like it did on Monday and Tuesday.  By 1:00 pm, the day had warmed to a balmy 74 degrees for the Par 3 contest.  (Did you know that Augusta National has a Par 3 course adjacent to the regular course?)  In addition to … (6 comments)

What does SEO have to do with retirement and second homes in McCormick County, SC?
First - the background:  Bruce and I are not products of the technology age.  We grew up when kids didn't have Facebook and text messaging.  We flew kites, collected baseball cards and pulled the family dog in the red wagon.  We both remember our families getting their first television.  That being said, Bruce has been in real estate since 1972 and has lots of real-world experience.  I am a newbie, having been an educator for 31 … (10 comments)

Are You a Golfer? What's Augusta National Like? Part 2
Drive into the public parking areas of Augusta National and it's hard not to be aware of ‘green.'  Everything you see is lush and green and manicured.  (Most home owners would be happy with grass as beautiful as in the parking lots at Augusta National.)  Most fans arrive early to walk the course and see the golfers - several times!  Many of the ‘big names' make early tee times for practice rounds so when the gates to the course open at 8:00 AM, the long lines have already formed.  Who would want … (6 comments)

Stevens Creek, SC

About the river: Stevens Creek, a tributary of the Savannah River, winds its way slowly through the counties of Edgefield and McCormick, SC. The landscape of the river changes vastly over its length from deep gorge like settings to rocky shoals and even lined by cypress trees in some areas. The floatable sections of the creek really begin below the confluence of Steven's and Turkey Creek, and end in a vast stump field as the waters combine with the Savannah River as it continues its course into North Augusta.  One of the rarest things about floating … (1 comments)

sc: Glaucoma in Dogs? We Wish We Had Known This! - 12/22/08 08:34 PM
Earlier this month, I posted a blog about our beautiful and awesome black lab named EmmyLou.  I also posted a picture of her on Wordless Wednesday - Do you know me.  I didn't get many comments but that didn't matter.  She has been such an important part of our lives and I enjoy her photos so much that I had fun with the posts and photos.

Twelve years is old for a lab - I know that.  Emmy is twelve.  Labs get all kinds of health problems after 10 or so years.  But we weren't prepared for the medical problems that have … (5 comments)

sc: 9 Ways to Improve Business in 2009 - You Name # 10 - 12/19/08 05:04 AM
We have been busy since September - first getting ready for our yearly Client Appreciation Halloween Party, then Thanksgiving!  The Christmas rush was right behind - practically a 24-hour-a-day process for the past few weeks.
Today, we find ourselves in a strange situation:  The house is decorated; the Christmas cards are addressed and mailed; the packages will be delivered by the big day; presents are bought and wrapped.  And it's not time to start cooking!
Yes, we have continued working hard during this holiday rush!  We've even had some very positive things happen in our business.  Since we're not rushing around doing … (2 comments)

sc: Meet EmmyLou - 12/13/08 07:34 AM
Hi.  My name is Emmy Lou!
I'm a 12 year old black lab who lives in McCormick, SC! I live with Bruce & Mary Smith and I have been in the 'people' business all my life. I'm a new member of the group and wanted to introduce myself.  One thing I discovered a long time ago is that people love dogs - especially nice calm ones who don't bark or jump. I know how to just sit and be pretty. Here's what I like about real estate and how I help Bruce & Mary!
Since dogs don't have to be licensed or take … (0 comments)
