The Butcher’s Bride: Slaying Clothing and Taking Philly by Storm
Kayla and Kelly were living sort of parallel lives--growing up in the same neighborhood, attending the same high school, and developing an affinity for all things hard-to-find--all before uniting souls in New York City (coincidentally both moving there from Philly within the same year). Now, they’re on a mission to create some of the most badass style pieces that Philadelphia’s seen thus far. And no pun intended, but they’re killing it.
To my excitement, my best friend and I were approached by the two of them … (0 comments)

philly: Bimini Juice Bar: Get Your Health On - 01/10/19 12:56 PM
Bimini Juice Bar, located at 2nd and Brown in the heart of Northern Liberties, screams both, “I went to yoga this morning and am feeling vibrant,” and, “I desperately need some nutrients ‘cause I’m slacking” at the same time. Whatever type of day you’re having, get’cho self over there.
If you’re hungry or thirsty, take a look behind the counter. They’ve got a bunch of categories chalked up all colorful on the blackboard wall. Smoothies, juices, shots (not of alcohol, guys. Think wheatgrass. Whatever that is. We should find out together, right?), salads, wraps, oatmeal, and bowls.
You’ll also see a large open … (0 comments)

philly: 10 Unit Apartment Building for Rent in Fishtown! - 01/10/19 12:36 PM

We’re back in Fishtown again, but this time we’re not looking at a single-family home. No—think 10-unit apartment.  2162 E Norris is a two minute walk from the El (elevated train for any non-Philly natives). Contemporary vibes throughout. And a killer roof-deck. (You guys know that’s my weakness, right? In the neighborhoods, you can’t beat ‘em. Extra outdoor space. Ayy!)
You walk in here, and everything’s got a high ceiling, beautiful floors, and usually a couple bedrooms and bathrooms (Yes. A couple. In an apartment.).
There are two units on the first floor with ample ledge space in each of the rooms, so … (0 comments)

philly: Mercer Cafe: A Port Richmond Staple - 01/10/19 12:29 PM

“Haaaave Mercer.” -Uncle Jesse from Full House (or something like that)
Although Cheers Cafe is just down the street, Mercer Cafe seems to be the epitome of “where everybody knows your name.” Opening its doors at 8 am sharp each morning, you can walk on in, grab a seat at the bar, and someone’ll fix you a cup of coffee just how you like it.
Or you can order your morning pick-me-ups to-go if you gotta be somewhere other than the heart of Port Richmond, ya know?
Get this–they’re even set up with Uber Eats so you can get the “ushe” (usual) delivered to your door. That’s been … (0 comments)

philly: Finding Nemi - 01/10/19 12:27 PM
Finding Nemi: Port Richmond’s Hip New Mexican Restaurant
On December 20, the previous “Dooey’s Road” on Ann and Edgemont Streets had officially taken on a new, ethni-craft persona.
Nemi is what the locals call it, but the owner, Alexander (Alex for short) calls it his dream—which is pretty obvious, as he graciously makes his rounds throughout the dining area, welcoming the support from people who wanna see what this restaurant’s all about.
Alexander put a lot of thought into exactly what he wanted this restaurant to be. In the up-and-coming area, Nemi’s vibes are quite on-par with establishments like Bait and Switch, Cook and … (0 comments)
