In addition to being a REALTOR, I'm a volunteer for OHIO RESPONDS and a member of the Green Township EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM. Part of my ongoing participation in these groups is to keep my family, friends, co-workers and clients informed of emergency response and preparedness issues. hamilton county: Green Township Bicentennial 1809 - 2009

Green Township will celebrate its Bicentennial this year! Special events and activities have been planned thoughout the year to honor the milestone. The highlight of the celebration will be the start of the newest Green Township Park on Diehl Road. The new park will be known as "Bicentennial Park" and will include a mix of active recreational areas, paved walking paths, ball fields, playground, a picnic shelter surrounded by green-space and the restored Unneweher House. hamilton county: Cincinnati Reds Opening Day

Cincinnati is a baseball town and opening day is right around the corner. The Reds play the Mets on April 6th at the Great American Ballpark. Game time is 1:10 PM. The history of Cheviot began in 1814, when a Scottish immigrant named John Craig purchased a half section of 320 acres in Green Twp from Elias Boudinot. Mr Craig built a inn and tavern in 1818, on Harrison Pike and the community began to grow. Today the city describes itself as having big city spirit with small town charm and offers its residents a well established business district. The Western Bowl is a Cincinnati bowling landmark and destination. Located at 6383 Glenway Avenue on the west side, there is 68 lanes with automatic scoring to accomodate beginners and pros alike. Every Saturday night, you can participate in Thunder Alley. A west side favorite for many years, you can sharpen your game while enjoying a light show, music and a nightclub atmosphere. The cost is only $4.10 per game! The fun starts at 11pm and continues to 2am. The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is one of the largest and busiest public libraries in the world. In today's Internet driven world the library still offers great value to the people of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. The library has 40 branch locations throughout the area. Their collections hold about 9,545,414 items and they offer over 15,000 free programs to seniors and toddlers alike. Amazing! If you're still looking to get on the Internet, take advantage of their hundreds of computers with access or bring your own machine and use their fee-based Wi-Fi service. hamilton county: Central Parkway

Many Cincinnati residents making their daily commute on Central Parkway have no idea they are actually driving on top of the failed Cincinnati Subway project. The project was started at the conclusion of WWI in 1920. However, work stop abruptly in 1927 with seven miles of undergound tunnel completed but with no track installed. There are three semi-completed stations located at Central Parkway and Race streets, at Central Parkway and Liberty street, and at Central Parkway and Brighton corner. There has been many attempts to revive the project over the years with no success. The only group authorized to offer tours is the Cincinnati (0 comments)
hamilton county: Betts - Longworth Historic District

The Betts - Longworth Historic District can be found just northwest of Downtown Cincinnati. The district is a ten-block area or sub area of Cincinnati's West End. You can see many architectural examples such as Italianate, Federal and Queen Anne styles within the neighborhood. At 416 Clark Avenue you'll find the Betts House. The house was constructed in 1804 and is the oldest surviving brick house in Ohio. Today, the house is owned by the Colonial Dames of America and is operated as a museum dedicated to the study of building materials and traditions. You can visit the museum during their (1 comments)

The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardenis located in the Avondale area of Cincinnati. The facility's location makes it unique among other zoos in the country because of its urban setting as compared to many others which where establised in suburban areas. The Zoo opened in 1875 and is the second oldest zoo in the United States. Founded on 65 original acres it is nicknamed "The Sexiest Zoo in America" because of its world renowned breeding programs. One of my favorite exhibits is Giraffe Ridge. It has been completely renovated and you can feed snacks to the Maasai giraffes that reside there. They (0 comments)

With over 186 acres of park wonderland, Eden Park is the jewel of the Queen City. The park is the home of the Irwin M. Krohn Conservatory, Murray Seasongood Pavilion, Play House in the Park, Cincinnati Art Academy and the Cincinnati Art Museum. Surounding the Twin Lakes, once an old stone quarry, is one of the best places in the city for a lazy weekend picnic lunch. The Holiday in Lights at Sharon Woods is an anuall event in its 17th year. Presented by the Alleen Company, you can see a mile long light display from the comfort of your own car. Some of the displays are of Santa and his elves and even Godzilla. Yikes! The cost is $12.00 per car and $45.00 per bus or fifteen passenger vans. The attraction begins on Friday, November 21 at 6:00 p.m. and is open every day (including all holidays) until December 31, 2008!During its season of operation, Holiday in Lights opens each evening at 6:00 p.m. From Sunday through Thursday, the display shuts (0 comments)

Precipitation is evenly distributed each month, averaging 41 inches of rainfall and 23 inches of snowfall annually. The highest recorded temperature was 109F set on July 21, 1934 and the lowest recorded temperature was - 25F set on January 18, 1977. Delhi Township (pronounced Dell-High) is one of twelve townships in Hamilton County and the only Delhi Township statewide. Called the "Floral Paradise of Ohio" the township has many hills and is cut by ravines caused by the decent of streams flowing to the Ohio River. Once a year the township hosts a Chicago-style softball game where the players are men dressed as women. The "Skirt Game" benefits needy families in the township. There is also live music, games, concessions and fireworks offered at the annual event. The Price Hill Historical Society preserves and celebrates the rich history of Price Hill. The society is located at 3640 Warsaw Avenue in the historic Art-Deco Provident Bank Building in the heart of the business district. Inside the society's museum you can discover permanent and rotating displays of the history surrounding the neighborhood once called Buttermilk Hill. The museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Sundays by appointment. Or you can attend a society meeting where many guest speakers and special events are planned. hamilton county: Mt. Healthy

The city of Mount Healthy has a unique history. Originally founded in 1817, as the Village of Mount Pleasant, it renamed itself Mount Healthy in 1850, following a cholera epidemic. Many of the original citizens survived the epidemic and attributed the miracle to the fresh air provided by the location of their village. Today Mount Healthy has a vibrant business district. You can enjoy the many shops in the village on Hamilton Avenue. Some of the shops include antiques, jewelry, gifts and more. The observation deck of Carew Tower offers an astounding view of the Greater Cincinnati area. Located at 441 Vine Street in downtown Cincinnati, the building rises 49 stories above street level. As of this post, the Art-Deco building is the tallest skyscraper in the tri-state area. However, in 2011, it will be eclipsed by the completion of the Great American Insurance Building which will rise 86 feet higher than Carew Tower. The observation deck is open, Monday - Thursday 9am - 5:30pm, Friday 9am - 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am - 7pm. You can't beat the admission price, it's only $1 (0 comments)

Located in a 1907 National Register firehouse at 315 West Court Street, the Cincinnati Fire Museum offers a look at the history of fire fighting in the Queen City. The museum has 200 years of fire fighting history on display. Some of the exhibits include old leather fire buckets, an early 1800's fire drum and, the oldest surviving fire engine in Cincinnati. The museum also offers interactive computer stations where you can learn about the bomb squad, the jaws of life and chemical spills. Laurel Court is located at the corner of Belmont and Oakwood Avenues in the College Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati. Designed by James Gamble Rogers for local paper magnate Peter G. Thomson, the residence is one of Cincinnati's most impressive homes. The beaux-arts structure includes 36 rooms, 20,000 square feet of living space and an atrium with a removable glass dome. Once the home of Archbishops John T. McNicholas and Karl J. Alter of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and until 1990 the corporate office of local pizza favorite LaRosa's, it is now a private residence.
