As part of the summer 2009 Street Rehabilitation Program, Green Township will repair 26 streets. The renovations are estimated to cost about $1.5 million. The township will use tax increment financing, revenue from the street levy, gasoline and vehicle license taxes to fund the repairs. The township is in the process of advertising for the bids. Work will begin after Memorial Day and wrap up around the end of October 2009. The 26 streets slated for repair are: Bellglade Terrace, Calmhaven Dr., Church Ln., Clearpoint Dr., Glastonbury Ct., Glencary Ct., Goldcreast Dr., Hutchinson Glen Dr., Jullemarie Ct., Leeside Tr., Leeward Way, (0 comments)

The fastest, meanest and most famous attraction at Kings Island turns 30 this year. The Beast was opened in 1979 and reaches a top speed of nearly 65 miles per hour at the bottom of the third hill. With more than 7300 feet of track the ride covers nearly 35 acres and offers an astounding four minute, 50 second ride you will never forget. Since the coaster's opening, it has accommodated 1200 riders per hour with a total ridership of more than 40,999,000 riders. Green Township will celebrate its Bicentennial this year! Special events and activities have been planned thoughout the year to honor the milestone. The highlight of the celebration will be the start of the newest Green Township Park on Diehl Road. The new park will be known as "Bicentennial Park" and will include a mix of active recreational areas, paved walking paths, ball fields, playground, a picnic shelter surrounded by green-space and the restored Unneweher House. The history of Cheviot began in 1814, when a Scottish immigrant named John Craig purchased a half section of 320 acres in Green Twp from Elias Boudinot. Mr Craig built a inn and tavern in 1818, on Harrison Pike and the community began to grow. Today the city describes itself as having big city spirit with small town charm and offers its residents a well established business district. Many Cincinnati residents making their daily commute on Central Parkway have no idea they are actually driving on top of the failed Cincinnati Subway project. The project was started at the conclusion of WWI in 1920. However, work stop abruptly in 1927 with seven miles of undergound tunnel completed but with no track installed. There are three semi-completed stations located at Central Parkway and Race streets, at Central Parkway and Liberty street, and at Central Parkway and Brighton corner. There has been many attempts to revive the project over the years with no success. The only group authorized to offer tours is the Cincinnati (0 comments)

The Betts - Longworth Historic District can be found just northwest of Downtown Cincinnati. The district is a ten-block area or sub area of Cincinnati's West End. You can see many architectural examples such as Italianate, Federal and Queen Anne styles within the neighborhood. At 416 Clark Avenue you'll find the Betts House. The house was constructed in 1804 and is the oldest surviving brick house in Ohio. Today, the house is owned by the Colonial Dames of America and is operated as a museum dedicated to the study of building materials and traditions. You can visit the museum during their (1 comments)

The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardenis located in the Avondale area of Cincinnati. The facility's location makes it unique among other zoos in the country because of its urban setting as compared to many others which where establised in suburban areas. The Zoo opened in 1875 and is the second oldest zoo in the United States. Founded on 65 original acres it is nicknamed "The Sexiest Zoo in America" because of its world renowned breeding programs. One of my favorite exhibits is Giraffe Ridge. It has been completely renovated and you can feed snacks to the Maasai giraffes that reside there. They (0 comments)

With over 186 acres of park wonderland, Eden Park is the jewel of the Queen City. The park is the home of the Irwin M. Krohn Conservatory, Murray Seasongood Pavilion, Play House in the Park, Cincinnati Art Academy and the Cincinnati Art Museum. Surounding the Twin Lakes, once an old stone quarry, is one of the best places in the city for a lazy weekend picnic lunch. The Holiday in Lights at Sharon Woods is an anuall event in its 17th year. Presented by the Alleen Company, you can see a mile long light display from the comfort of your own car. Some of the displays are of Santa and his elves and even Godzilla. Yikes! The cost is $12.00 per car and $45.00 per bus or fifteen passenger vans. The attraction begins on Friday, November 21 at 6:00 p.m. and is open every day (including all holidays) until December 31, 2008!During its season of operation, Holiday in Lights opens each evening at 6:00 p.m. From Sunday through Thursday, the display shuts (0 comments)

Delhi Township (pronounced Dell-High) is one of twelve townships in Hamilton County and the only Delhi Township statewide. Called the "Floral Paradise of Ohio" the township has many hills and is cut by ravines caused by the decent of streams flowing to the Ohio River. Once a year the township hosts a Chicago-style softball game where the players are men dressed as women. The "Skirt Game" benefits needy families in the township. There is also live music, games, concessions and fireworks offered at the annual event. The Price Hill Historical Society preserves and celebrates the rich history of Price Hill. The society is located at 3640 Warsaw Avenue in the historic Art-Deco Provident Bank Building in the heart of the business district. Inside the society's museum you can discover permanent and rotating displays of the history surrounding the neighborhood once called Buttermilk Hill. The museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Sundays by appointment. Or you can attend a society meeting where many guest speakers and special events are planned.
