south carolina: Life as a Realtor
- 01/15/13 01:39 AM
I don’t understand why someone who obviously knows what their price range is would waste my time and theirs looking at a property that is priced beyond their limit. I think if I were searching for a new home I would only look at properties that I could afford. Looking at homes that are more expensive only makes homes in the price range look less appealing. I recently had a couple who were all excited about seeing this home and loved it once they saw it. When I followed up to see what their decision was, they then told me it (0 comments)
south carolina: Breaking into a New Real Estate Market
- 10/19/12 10:08 PM
My wife and I decided to move from North Myrtle Beach to Rock Hill, South Carolina to be closer to our children and grandchildren. I knew breaking into a new real estate market would be difficult but I never expected it to take an entire year to get established. It was very depressing after having been successful to suddenly not being able to make a sale. I tried online marketing, mailings and other advertising to no avail it seems. Then all of a sudden, it started to pay off am now some days it seems there are not enough hours in (31 comments)
south carolina: Busy, Busy, Busy
- 10/09/12 10:26 PM
I can't believe how busy real estate has suddenly gotten. It seems like there aren't enough hours in the day to get all the things I need to do accomplished. This week so far, I have had a closing, showed property to three people and wrote two offers and it is only Wednesday. I have only managed one day off in the past two weeks. It's amazing to go from being unbusy to not a free moment. I hope this trend continues. www.soldinrockhill.com

south carolina: Busy Week
- 06/25/12 09:29 AM
Last week was an exceptionally busy week. I showed property each day and sometimes to several clients. I wrote one accepted offer and have an appointment tomorrow to write another. This just adds to my belief the real estate market is improving. I am seeing prices starting to stabilize and even tick up slightly. As I was riding around showing property, I also noted there has been an increase in the number of new construction starts. All of this points to a recovery in the real estate market. Hopefully, it will continue. www.soldinrockhill.com

south carolina: Riverbank Zoo, Columbia South Carolina
- 06/19/12 04:29 AM
We recently visited Riverbank Zoo in Columbia, SC. This was our first visit since the kids have grown up, so it has been quite awhile. We were pleasantly surprised that it is still a great place to visit. The day we were there the weather was exceptionally nice so we enjoyed strolling and watching all the animals. Some of our favorites were the brown bear, monkeys, baboons and penguins. The birds were also very interesting. We had never seen a Victoria Crowned Pigeon before and were amazed at how beautiful it is.

south carolina: Why Hasn't My House Sold Update
- 05/29/12 11:05 PM
These sellers walked away from the sale of their home the day before closing over repairing a GFI problem. They had already moved from the area and bought a new home. I pointed out to them repairing this was probably going to be much less than their monthly payment and in this market, qualified buyers are hard to come by to no avail. I also pointed out that it was going to come up again with another offer if they did a home inspection and that almost all buyers do. They still refused to make the repairs. Needless to say, we (0 comments)
south carolina: Bird Watching
- 05/23/12 05:55 AM
Earlier this year, we observed a pair of Blue Herons nesting in the Nivens Creek area of Lake Wiley. Sometimes we would see the mother or father and sometimes both. Soon, we could see they were feeding the young chicks, Finally, this week, we saw the ytoung chicks for the first time. They were standing in the nest surveying the lake. As you can see from the pictures, they have grown quite a bit. All in all, it has been an awesome experience to have watched this nest and finally see the young chicks!! www.soldinrockhill.com

We recently spent a couple of days in Charleston, South Carolina and while there toured Magnolia Gardens. The Azaleas were in bloom at the time of our visit and they were breathtaking. It is amazing to be able to walk underneath Azaleas. The walk along the riverbanks of the Ashley River was also beautiful. There are many types of wildlife in the ponds and surrounding areas including alligators, egrets, blue heron and more.

south carolina: The Weather
- 04/02/12 10:30 PM
The weather this year has so far been unbelieveable. Here we are in mid March and the daffidils have already bloomed and the tulips are in bloom. A lot of the peach trees here in South Carolina are in full bloom. Yesterday the high was 80 and the forecast is for more of the same today. Although, there i a chance for thunderstorms this weekend, it doesn't get any better than this. It's time to go boating on Lake Wiley or take a trip to the coast. It's also time to uncover the pool and get it ready for Summer. www.soldinrockhill.com (0 comments)
south carolina: Glencairn Gardens, Rock Hill, South Carolina
- 04/02/12 10:20 PM
Rock Hill, South Carolina is a lovely city and a great place to call home. One of the loveliest areas is Glencairn Gardens. It is home to 3,500 plus azaleas in addition to other plants, shrubs and trees. Glencairn was started in 1928 as a backyard garden and is situated on 11 acres. It is an English style garden. Residents and visitors like to stroll along it's meandering pathways or relax on one of the many benches or swings and just enjoy the beauty of it. It is located near downtown and Winthrop University. On nice days, some of the college (1 comments)
south carolina: Watching The Dolphins
- 02/28/11 03:07 AM
One of our favorite past times is watching dolphins here on the coast of South Carolina and trying to capture them on film. You only have a split second before they disappear, so we tend to get lots of pictures of nothing but the ocean. Ever so often, we get lucky and do manage to get some great shots with dolphins actually in the photo. The dolphins tend to swim in pairs and it is really fascinating to watch them. www.scbeachteam.com

We just spent a few days in the charming city of Charleston, SC. It is a wonderful place to visit. There are many unique hotels and inns in which to stay, many right downtown. There are also some fantastic restaurants including The Peninsula Grill, Slightly North of Broad, Hyman's, Robert's of Charleston, just to name a few. If you are into art or antiques, there are numerous shops to choose from. There are carriage, boat, bus and walking tours of the city. Some of the homes are also open. Slightly west of the city near Summerville are the plantations, Magnolia, Middleton Place and Drayton Hall. Middleton (2 comments)
