I grew up in Virginia and frankly took the simplistic elegance of Christmas decorations in Virginia for-granted. We all have the "Christmas Vacation" houses where everyone lines up to see the tacky lights, while they are fun to look at there is just something about the traditional ways we decorate here in Virginia.

Helping those with Cancer
Over the last two years our in house lender has been fighting cancer. It has been an up and down battle for him and his family. He has gone through many treatments and at one time was pronounced clear.
Unfortunately, he is still fighting the cancer and the treatments have forced him to take medical leave. Our company has banded together to help him and his family. We bring them food, have yard sales, we visit, and ask them what they need.

D-Day 70th Anniversary in Bedford VA
Bedford is known for many great things but the one thing that gets so much attention (and rightfuly so) is the towns place the history of D-Day.
On D-Day June 6th 1944 Bedford population of 3,400 woke up to learn 19 of their sons had died on the beaches of Normandy. An additional 4 passed away within a couple days while fighting near Normandy. This was the highest death rate per capita during the D-Day invasion. During D-Day and the days following 9,000 Allied men and women lost their lives.

As we pause to recognize the thousands of men and women who gave their lives in defensive of our country. We give thanks for your service.
This year, Memorial Day takes an extra special meaning. We are approaching the 70th anniversary of D-Day, we remember the 19 men from Bedford for gave their lives on the beaches of Normandy. These men joined together with thousands of other soldiers, US and our Allies, to help take back Europe.
