In the West Georgia, South West Metro Atlanta area, there have been several new parks added in the past decade. Chattahoochee Bend State Park in Coweta County, and Little Tallapoosa Park, a Carroll County park and it opened in 2012. The name of this park is from the Little Tallapoosa River that stretches from the headwaters made up of branches of mud Creek, Sweetwater Creek (from the lake at Sweetwater State Park Near Douglasville GA), Guthard's Creek clear up around Lithia Springs and Austell Georgia, heading South West into Alabama where it eventually runs into Lake Wedowee (aka: R. The next time you tune in to your favorite country station and the DJ is playing "Way Down Yonder on the Chattahoochee", by Newnan Native Alan Jackson, or you happen to hear it in between innings at an Atlanta Braves game, this is the same muddy water the country star sings about and quite possibly the very location that inspired the lyrics to that number one record. This is also the location for one of Georgia's largest and newest parks. Sunset (taken with an iphone so some imagination is required) at F.D. Roosevelt State Park, Georgia's largest State Park https://gastateparks.org/FDRoosevelt with just a little over 9,000 acres features a variety of outdoor activities and events. Even just a day drive to see the sights is a wonderful way to take it in. The park has more than 40 miles of trails, breathtaking scenic views, plagygrounds, picnick areas and campgrounds.
